  • COLORADO AVALANCHE VS. MIGHTY DUCKS of ANAHEIM Special Teams Avs’ Best Bet by ADRIAN DATER | the DENVER POST
8D The Denver Post g Friday, May 5, 2006 AVALANCHE COLORADO AVALANCHE VS. MIGHTY DUCKS OF ANAHEIM Special teams Avs’ best bet BY ADRIAN DATER | THE DENVER POST The Avalanche gets the edge in almost every category here, so it’ll be a blowout, right? Wrong. The Ducks showed they are a formidable team in knocking off Northwest Division champion Calgary in the first round. They also have the home-ice advantage in the series. But we saw how much home ice was worth to Western teams in the first round — zip. The Avs look a little deeper and a little more talented overall than the Mighty Ducks. It’ll be a close series, but the bet here is the Avs will find a way to win again. PREDICTION: AVALANCHE IN SIX GAMES THE AVS ADVANTAGE OFFENSE THE DUCKS Who would have believed the Avalanche of and balanced Mighty Ducks, Colorado needs 2006 would be a more potent offensive team another good series from usual suspects Joe than the one of 2003-04 that included Peter Sakic, Milan Hejduk and — maybe even more Forsberg, Paul Kariya and Teemu Selanne? than in the first round — Alex Tanguay. Alex Tanguay The new NHL rules are partly responsible The Ducks are led by, surprise, surprise: Jeff Vinnick for that, but these Avs are a deeper, more Selanne. The friendly Finn was awful for the Getty Images balanced offensive team than that so-called Avs in his one season here, but surgery to his “superstar” team. The addition of Steve knee helped him regain his speed.

Buffalo Sabres Daily Press Clips December 5, 2013 Rangers-Sabres Preview Associated Press December 4, 2013 If there was the slightest bit of doubt that Henrik Lundqvist was the clear-cut No. 1 goaltender for the New York Rangers, it has been eliminated this week. A day after agreeing to a seven-year contract extension, Lundqvist is likely to return to the ice after a rare two-game stretch on the bench as New York desperately tries to get some momentum going Thursday night against the Buffalo Sabres. "It was never an option for me to leave this club," Lundqvist said after the new deal was announced. "I really want to win the Cup here in New York." This trip to Buffalo precedes a nine-game homestand which will take the Rangers (14-14-0) through Christmas, a stretch Lundqvist would surely welcome. He has a 1.69 goals-against average at Madison Square Garden compared to 3.28 on the road. He hasn't been in net at MSG since Nov. 19 because New York's only two home games since then - also its two most recent games - were started by Cam Talbot even though Lundqvist was healthy. Talbot had been outplaying Lundqvist, going 6-1-0 with a 1.49 GAA through November while the five-time Vezina Trophy finalist was 8-11-0 with a career-worst 2.51 GAA. However, Talbot came back down to Earth on Monday, giving up four goals on 29 shots in a 5-2 loss to Winnipeg. Two days later, the team announced it had agreed to terms on the new deal with Lundqvist worth a reported $59.5 million.

Proskauer Rose LLP BACKGROUND Kadri/NHL This is an appeal under Article 18.13 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) of a determination by the Commissioner upholding an 8-game suspension imposed on Colorado Avalanche player Nazem Kadri for On-Ice Conduct on May 19, 2021 in Game Two of the First Round Series of the 2021 Stanley Cup Playoffs between the Avalanche and the St. Louis Blues. During the game, Kadri delivered a forceful open-ice check to St. Louis Player Justin Faulk. The on-ice official's report states: At 13:30 of the third period, #91 N. Kadri (Colorado) delivered a hit on #72 J. Faulk (St-Louis). The hit was delivered right after Faulk shot the puck on net. It was a high hit from the blind side that made direct contact with Faulk’s head. As a result of the infraction, Faulk was injured on the play. He laid on the ice for a few minutes, left the game and did not return. Faulk sustained a concussion. Due to the injury, Faulk did not play in the remainder of Game Two or in Games Three and Four of the Series, which Colorado won in four games.
