East Lothian’s railway stations are the gateway to a multitude of destinations! Waverley From here you can access the whole of Edinburgh. You can walk to many city centre attractions. Frequent bus and tram services are available on Princes Street and taxis are just outside the station. Image: Musselburgh Racecourse Image: Musselburgh Musselburgh Racecourse Outside the station hop on a Lothian Buses service 30 (10 mins frequency daytime), to get to Newhailes House. Don’t forget to visit the beach and harbour, Inveresk Lodge Garden or the Brunton Theatre. Queen Margaret University is close to the station. Wallyford Alight here for Musselburgh Racecourse and enjoy free buses between the Park and Ride facility and racecourse on race days. Buses from here take you to many East Lothian destinations. Cross the road and travel on a 26 to Seton Sands to visit the Prestongrange Industrial Heritage Museum. Prestonpans Scotland’s mural town. Start your Mural Trail here with the restored murals on the platform. Walk to the site of the Battle of Prestonpans (1745) from the south (Edinburgh bound) platform. The East Coast Main Line crosses the battlefield! Preston House, Hamilton House and the Mercat Gait centre are close by. Longniddry HarryImage: Barker Prestonpans Station A 15 minute walk north takes you to Longniddry Bents, or there is a Railway Path to Haddington (4 miles), 300m east of the station. Drem Get the Eve’s 121 bus from here, or Prentice 111 bus to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh from the village green, toFenton Barns retail village, 3 minutes away. A 1 mile walk takes you to Chesters Hill Fort. Image: Mark Jackson Jackson Mark Image: North Berwick North Berwick There are numerous tourist attractions in and around North Berwick. In summer East Coast Tours run an open top bus to the Scottish Seabird Centre, Tantallon Castle, the NB Gin Distillery, Preston Mill, East Linton (all also served by Eve’s 120 bus) and the National Museum of Flight, Scottish National Flag Centre, Chesters Hill Fort, Fenton Barns Retail Village (all served by Eve’s 121 bus, except Chester’s Hill Fort). Dirleton Castle is served by East Coast Buses 124 and X5 from the end of the station platform. Walking tours are available locally. Dunbar Dunbar has many attractions within walking distance of the station, including the Town House and Museum, John Muir Birthplace, Image: Mark Jackson Jackson Mark Image: and Dunbar Leisure Pool. The John Muir Way starts here. Buses Dunbar Harbour towards Edinburgh (from the end of Station Rd) reach John Muir Country Park, East Links Family Park and Foxlake Adventures.
