The RenegadeBakersfield College Rip Vol. 86 ∙ No. 11 www.therip.com Wednesday, March 18, 2015 ‘Rhinoceros’ hits the stage with absurdity By Amber Hayden Online Editor Despite all of the construction going on around the indoor the- ater, Kim Chin and her theater class managed to put on their production of “Rhinoceros.” The play, which is set during the time of the Nazi invasion into France, shows that instead of standing out and being different, that people were conforming in order to be safe. In an earlier interview with Chin, she had expressed the hopes of people who came to watch the play, and then they could apply what they saw to their modern day lives. The play is from theater of the absurd, which consists of main- ly 1950s European playwrights. The viewer can take the play in several different ways, but the main theme in Ionesco’s play was conformity. Cody Ferguson Gomez, who plays Berenger, along with Ryan Lee, who portrays Jean onstage, represents Miranda Jordan Chaves, who is conformity as he turns into a rhinoceros in the play. Daisy, have come to see those who were in the play with them Photos BY MASON J. Rockfellow / THE RIP as family now. Anthony Hernandez as Botard (left), Danny Bennett as Dudard, Cody Ferguson Gomez “There is family, and then as Berenger and Sam Molina as Mr. Papillion (right) perform in “Rhinoceros.” The play there is theater family,” com- ran from March 11-15 in the indoor theater. It was the first production of this semester. mented Gomez.

  • Discography of the Mainstream Label
Discography of the Mainstream Label Mainstream was founded in 1964 by Bob Shad, and in its early history reissued material from Commodore Records and Time Records in addition to some new jazz material. The label released Big Brother & the Holding Company's first material in 1967, as well as The Amboy Dukes' first albums, whose guitarist, Ted Nugent, would become a successful solo artist in the 1970s. Shad died in 1985, and his daughter, Tamara Shad, licensed its back catalogue for reissues. In 1991 it was resurrected in order to reissue much of its holdings on compact disc, and in 1993, it was purchased by Sony subsidiary Legacy Records. 56000/6000 Series 56000 mono, S 6000 stereo - The Commodore Recordings 1939, 1944 - Billy Holiday [1964] Strange Fruit/She’s Funny That Way/Fine and Mellow/Embraceable You/I’ll Get By//Lover Come Back to Me/I Cover the Waterfront/Yesterdays/I Gotta Right to Sing the Blues/I’ll Be Seeing You 56001 mono, S 6001 stereo - Begin the Beguine - Eddie Heywood [1964] Begin the Beguine/Downtown Cafe Boogie/I Can't Believe That You're in Love with Me/Carry Me Back to Old Virginny/Uptown Cafe Boogie/Love Me Or Leave Me/Lover Man/Save Your Sorrow 56002 mono, S 6002 stereo - Influence of Five - Hawkins, Young & Others [1964] Smack/My Ideal/Indiana/These Foolish Things/Memories Of You/I Got Rhythm/Way Down Yonder In New Orleans/Stardust/Sittin' In/Just A Riff 56003 mono, S 6003 stereo - Dixieland-New Orleans - Teagarden, Davison & Others [1964] That’s A- Plenty/Panama/Ugly Chile/Riverboat Shuffle/Royal Garden Blues/Clarinet

INTEGRATION AND TRADE “This book makes an unprecedented contribution to understanding the past, present, and possible futures of economic relations between Latin America and India. Will these relations follow the same path taken by Latin America and China? If not, how might they differ? Using solid knowledge of economic history, hard-to-get data, and sound comparative analysis, the authors shed light on challenges that will be faced in India: coming years to intensify these relations, arguing that eventual success can be a win-win proposition. A book worth reading from both an academic and a policy- India: Latin America's Next Big Thing? making perspective.” Latin America's Next Big Thing? A very useful source for CM economists and non-economists alike interested
