Our main aim remains to foster friendship and community spirit within Shincliffe, High Shincliffe, Houghall, Sherburn House, and the outlying farms – a total of over 700 homes. SHINCLIFFE COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION NEWS Shincliffe Show This was another busy, and successful Show day, with over 200 entries – an amazing display of the skills and talents of our community’s children and adults; many thanks for your support. The full list of results and Trophy winners are shown separately. We would like to thank our judges – Mrs E Coxon (Flowers), Mrs G Day (Crafts), Mrs J Grady (Baking), Mrs E Reed (Jams), Mr M Stewart (Fruit & Veg), Mr Tait (Children’s), Mr A Wilkinson (Photos) and Mrs M Wilkinson (Jams) – for their deliberations and selfless tasting skills. We are very grateful to the Parish Council for their contribution towards hall hire and to those who donated raffle prizes – the Avenue Inn, Jayne & Ivan Bridges (Podiatry), Shincliffe Mill Nursery, Julie Bowden (Phoenix Cards), Tess Hagger (Drama Class), Poplar Tree Garden Centre, Del Faye (Avon), the Ladies at Knit’N’Natter and Gloria Day. Community Association Committee There have been some changes to our committee with Jane Ranns standing down as Chairman and Ann Callaghan as Treasurer, though Ann is remaining a committee member. We are most grateful for their support and service. The following appointments were agreed: Peter Hagger, Chairman; Paul Stevens, Treasurer. SCAN Magazine SCA would like to express our gratitude to Ken Watson and his team for their success in producing the new SCAN newsletter. However we are seeking a volunteer to assist in the preparation for publication who could liaise with, and support, the team on behalf of the Community Association. Christmas Lunch for Senior Citizens Monday 5th December 12 noon We are pleased to propose hosting a senior citizen’s Christmas lunch at the Avenue Inn as an opportunity for members of the community to meet and celebrate the festive season. We are able to provide car transport to enable you to attend. There will be a choice of a small portion size menu at up to £11.95 for 3 courses or the full menu at up to £15.95 for 3 courses. We will need to confirm our booking by 7th November as this is a busy time of year, If you have any questions or wish to reserve a place please contact Del Faye on 386 0369.
