Atkins, who reached Georgia 32 the milestone on Wednesday against McNeese State, now has 1,006 career points. Stanford 31 • Strong Start for Atkins: Atkins is off to an impressive start through the first two Texas 30 games of her senior year. She is averaging 16.0 points per game and 4.0 steals per UConn 29 game. Atkins is shooting 75 percent (12-of-16) from the field. She also leads the Big 12 Conference in three-point field-goal percentage (100 percent, 4-of-4) and also boasts a MEDIA RELATIONS league-leading 8/1 assist-to-turnover ratio. The Huskies built a 15-point lead a little more than 12 minutes into the first half, and Tennessee could never recover. The Lady Vols, who had been averaging 80 points per game, took 13 min- utes to reach 10 points in the national title game. The Huskies were led by the Final Four’s most outstanding player, Shea Ralph, who set the tone for her team defensively with six steals and added 15 points and seven assists to the victory. Connecticut earned its second national title five years to the day after its first championship win in 1995. The Huskies finished the season with a 36-1 record and avenged their only loss of the sea- son at the hands of the Lady Vols, February 2, 72-71. All-Tournament Team: Ralph was joined on the all-tournament team by teammates Sue Bird, Svetlana Abrosimova and Asjha Jones. Tennessee’s Tamika Catchings was also honored.
