Pepe did a nice job getting them all in one book. Easy reading. I liked the end of the book re-cap where he repeated them all to create a Yogi-isms reference chart! Fun reading especially if you are a Yankees fan.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. An Enjoyable Biography Of Yogi BerraBy SquazeedleIt's more of a biography of Yogi than a collection of his famous utterances, although there are plenty of those here. It's a very enjoyable book.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Witty and WisdomyBy Mike SorohanWe lost both Phil Pepe and Yogi Berra in the past year, and we are poorer for it. This isn't the best book about Yogi ever written, but it is quintessential Yogi by a veteran who, like most of us, is clearly a fan.

In The Wit and Wisdom of Yogi Berra, author Phil Pepe takes Yogi from St. Louis to New York's and , including all the stops along the way - from the days he put soles on women's shoes to his induction into the Baseball's Hall of Fame, when he coined one of his most remembered phrases: "I thank everybody for making this day necessary." Phil Pepe explores Yogi Berra as a boy, player, hero, , , husband, and father, a buffoon and a human being. He relates all of the Berraisms in an absorbing treatment that is simultaneously comical, thoughtful, and biographical. Who can forget what Yogi said about a popular restaurant: "Nobody goes there anymore. It's too crowded." Or Yogi's take on Little League Baseball? "I think it's wonderful. It keeps the kids out of the house."

About the AuthorPhil Pepe has written more than fifty books, mostly on baseball, including collaborations with ( bestseller My Favorite Summer: 1956), Whitey Ford, , and . His latest work is : The Heart and Soul of the Yankees Dynasty. He is a former Yankees beat writer for the New York Daily News and a past president of the Baseball Writersrsquo; Association of America.
