Election 2016 – Voter guide for REALTORS® Welcome to the 2016 Voter guide for REALTORS®. On these pages you will find important information about the upcoming general election, registering to vote, and candidates that are running for political office. Also included in this guide is information regarding which candidates have received support from the Pennsylvania REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC).

As a non‐partisan organization, we recognize that our members have many different political views. The purpose of this guide is not to change those views. It is simply to provide our members with information about which incumbent legislators have been supportive of our issues, and which candidates in ‘open seat’ legislative districts we feel would best protect our industry and private property rights. Open seat recommendations are based on interviews between the candidates of each party and a panel of your REALTOR® colleagues.

Register and Get Out to Vote The Suburban REALTORS® Alliance encourages REALTORS® to register to vote. If you are a first time voter, or have recently moved or changed your name, you may need to register or re‐register to vote. Pennsylvanians now have more ways to register to vote. Now Pennsylvanians can register to vote or confirm voter registration by texting PA to 2VOTE (28683). In addition, Pennsylvanians can now register to vote online at www.votespa.com.

The ‘REALTOR®’ Party: Who we support REALTORS® are committed to supporting political candidates that support a strong and stable environment for real estate transactions and the protection of private property rights. One of the important ways that REALTORS® demonstrate this support is through the REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC).

After a careful analysis of a legislator’s voting record, RPAC Trustees from each of the nine Pennsylvania Association of REALTORS® (PAR) districts meet to consider support of individual candidates. In “open seat” legislative races where there is no incumbent candidate, or in districts where an incumbent has not been supportive of REALTOR® issues, RPAC Trustees and local association board members will interview candidates to determine whether they should receive a contribution.

At the level of state government, RPAC contributes to candidates based on their positions on issues such as property tax reform, the realty transfer tax, professional licensure and protecting property rights. At the federal government level, RPAC support is based on a candidate’s stance on a broad array of tax, small business, consumer, real estate and property rights issues.

Decisions regarding which candidates receive RPAC contributions are based solely on their positions on the issues, rather than political affiliation. Below you will find a list of all candidates running in the Suburban REALTORS® Alliance four county region. Candidates that have been chosen to receive support from RPAC are highlighted in bold.
