Carols is comin’ to town Sunrise stars return to the stage to host the 2016 Woolworths Carols in the Domain. (21 November 2016) They’re back! Seven’s David Koch, Samantha Armytage, Natalie Barr and Mark Beretta will return to host the 2016 Woolworths Carols in the Domain which for the first time will be on Sunday 18 December. The Sunrise stars will be joined by Carols’ best ever line-up of entertainers to share some Christmas cheer with Australian audiences. We can announce the much-loved Christmas event will star Ky Baldwin, the 15- year-old who wowed audiences as the young Peter Allen in Seven’s hit 2015 miniseries Peter Allen ‘Not the Boy Next Door'. Also, returning to the stage will be Mark Vincent, the only classical trained artist in Australian history to have released seven albums by the time he was 21 and Australian television, film and family favourite, Jay Laga'aia. In addition, these stars are confirmed to appear on the 2016 Carols stage: DAMI IM DOUG PARKINSON GEORGIE PARKER JOHN PAUL YOUNG LEO SAYER MICKEY AND MINNIE MOUSE SHANNON NOLL THE MCCLYMONTS and TODD MCKENNEY The Salvation Army is once again the Woolworths Carols in the Domain official charity. Premised on the notion that mediated politics is now understood “in new ways by new voices” (Jones, 2005: 4), and appropriating what McNair (2003) calls a “chaos theory” of journalism sociology, this thesis explores how two different contemporary Australian political television programs (Sunrise and The Chaser’s War on Everything) are viewed, understood, and used by audiences. In analysing these programs from textual, industry and audience perspectives, this thesis argues that journalism has been largely thought about in overly simplistic binary terms which have failed to reflect the reality of audiences’ news consumption patterns. The findings of this thesis suggest that both ‘soft’ infotainment (Sunrise) and ‘frivolous’ satire (The Chaser’s War on Everything) are used by audiences in intricate ways as sources of political information, and thus these TV programs (and those like them) should be seen as legitimate and valuable forms of public knowledge production.

BGHS Dance Program Teachers 2020 Ana Welsh (BGHS Staff) - Dance Company Ana completed her HSC at Newtown High School of the Performing Arts and graduated from UNSW in 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts (Dance/Theatre) and Bachelor of Education. Outside of her teaching career, Ana had the privilege of being a member of two youth contemporary dance companies, Pulse8 (2008) and youMove (2009-2010) with which she performed in works by Sarah-Vyne Vassallo, Martin Del Amo, Fiona Malone, Narelle Benjamin, Anton and the Artistic Director of both companies, Kay Armstrong. Ana was also awarded a choreographic residency with youMove in 2010. Her work within the performing arts industry includes being a featured dancer with the St George Banks ‘Huddle’ video and more recently as a Teaching and Performing artist for Murmuration (2015 - 2017), Sydney’s first professional integrated performance company. While with Murmuration, Ana performed in the No Offense But, Comedy Show as part of the featured event for the Don’t Dis My Ability Campaign 2015 and Sydney Comedy Festival ‘Comedy for Kids!’ program 2016. Charlotte Patterson - Acrobatics Charlotte Patterson has worked as an acrobatics coach for over eight years. She grew up competing in artistic gymnastics before moving to acrobatic gymnastics at age 10. She’s had the opportunity to compete at five National Acrobatics Gymnastics Championships as well as training and competing in the International Stream. In 2014, she was lucky enough to travel to Belgium to participate in an International Acrobatics Competition (FIAC). Charlotte now has a strong passion for teaching and transferring her knowledge to others.

Edwina Bartholomew Television Broadcaster & MC Edwina Bartholomew is a journalist with over 10 years’ experience working in television and radio. In that time, she has covered everything from courts to crime to crocodile egg collecting in the Northern Territory. More about Edwina Bartholomew: Edwina completed her journalism degree at Charles Sturt University in Bathurst and later studied a Master of International Relations at Sydney University. She won her very first job with Sunrise in a competition in 2003. Since then, Edwina has done pretty much every role on the show from making coffee to producing to hosting.
