PARISH PROJECTS As good stewards of your generosity, the Facilities Team provides you regular updates on St. Matthew campus projects, improvements and ongoing initiatives. We had a noticeably productive Easter week. The curtains came down on the Sanctuary Apse area, kneeler pads were replaced, and a dedicated heating and cooling system was installed in the Adoration Chapel and Church Library. The Apse area behind the altar was unveiled on Holy Saturday. Although the painting is not finished, we reached a point where the angels, sunburst and gold-leaf star filled sky could be enjoyed. Over the next several weeks, additional detail will be added to the angels and clouds and the back wall will have color and shading to look like stone. The area will remain open during these final steps. With the help of your Easter generosity, and with the help of over a dozen volunteers, we replaced the padding and upholstery on 372 Sanctuary kneelers. The material is the same but feels a little rough because of the added support and firmness. The fabric will feel smoother over time, but the padding will not deteriorate like the original foam rubber. The Adoration Chapel underwent a thorough cleaning and a separate HVAC system was installed to maintain a more constant temperature in the Chapel 24/7. Work inside the Chapel was completed, outside electrical connections and start-up is scheduled. This week we will continue our work outside with tree trimming, tree and stump removal. We are excited to bring you these updates and we welcome suggestions for facilities improvement. Please contact George Harvey at [email protected].
