Humanitarian Snapshot (March 2011) This snapshot is prepared based on information provided by UN agencies, INGOs, ASEAN, the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (Badan Meteorologi, Klimatologi dan Geofisika BMKG), the National Disaster Management Agency (Badan Nasional Penanggulangan Bencana BNPB), the Ministry of Health (MoH), and media reports.

Humanitarian Situation Indonesia continued to experience heavy rainfall and extreme weather in the last weeks of the traditional annual rainy season. The meteorological agency, however, predicts that the extreme weather may continue until May this year. Alert level at Mt. Karangetang in Central was raised to highest level 4 following its eruption on 18 March. Alert status was later lowered to level 3. Twenty two earthquakes measuring at 5.0 Richter scale (RS) or above hit , , West , North , , , , , and during March. No damages, injuries or casualties were reported. Avian Influenza update: The Ministry of Health has announced two confirmed cases of human infection in March. Indonesia hosted the ASEAN Regional Forum Disaster Response Exercise (ARF DiREx) in Manado, North Sulawesi 14-18 March.
