Taunton Deane Constituency Labour Party All Member Meeting, 25 July 2018 agreed to support representations from Wiveliscombe members as follows: West Somerset and Taunton council – proposed ward boundary changes to Wiveliscombe ward: a. Preferred boundary to incorporate Wiveliscombe and Milverton into one ward: there are significant existing historic, social and service connections between the two. b. If the proposed boundary remains it should be renamed ‘Wiveliscombe and Brendons ward’: Wiveliscombe is the third largest population centre in the Taunton Deane area and its status such should be recognised in the name.

CONSULTATION ON BOUNDARY CHANGES ON SOMERSET WEST AND TAUNTON DRAFT BOUNDARY PROPOSALS I am writing to the Boundary commission on behalf of the Taunton Deane Liberal Party Executive . I wish to make the following recommendations A) Issues around ward names with no boundary changes 1)Brendon and Wivesiscombe key(24) to Wiveiscombe and District 2)North Curry and District (key16) to North Curry and Ruishton These are to reflect the true nature of the communities concerned and their sense of identity 3)Retain the following ward names as proposed by the Boundary Commission. 4)Retain Tangier (key25) no change to Manor and Tangier 5)Retain Vivary West (Key29) no change to Wilton and Sherford 6)Retain Vivary East (key28) no change to Vivary 7)Retain Minehead South(key 14) not Periton and Woodcombe B) Boundary Changes 1)Support Otterford Parish Council for a Blackdown Ward including Churchstanton, Corfe, Otterford and Pitminster villages. The reasons for this proposal have already been forwarded to the Boundary Commission by the Otterford Parish council. 2)Support the splitting of West Monkton and Cheddon into two wards. A single councilor ward of Cheddon and West Monkton to reflect the, more largely rural and established, population North of the A3529 and a two Councilor ward of Monkton Heathfield and Bathpool south of the A3529 which reflects the newer peri-urban and recent developments taking place. There would be no increase in the number of Councilors. Yours Sincerely
