FLEURIEU PENINSULA TOURISM Fleurieu Peninsula Tourism (FPT) is a not-for-profit incorporated non-membership- based organisation. Its board comprises tourism industry members and a representative of RDA Hills Fleurieu and Kangaroo Island (RDA). The board meets four or five times a year with funding available for a fulltime manager and a part-time administrative support officer. The Regional Tourism Manager (RTM) will work remotely across the region and from their home. The RTM reports directly to the Board’s chairperson. PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION The Fleurieu Peninsula RTM is responsible for developing and fostering effective links and relationships with stakeholders. These in particular are its funding stakeholders: Alexandrina Council, the City of Onkaparinga, the City of Victor Harbor, the District Council of Yankalilla and the South Australian Tourism Commission. Internally this position reports to the Fleurieu Peninsula Tourism Board on progress in delivering outcomes as identified in the annual business plan. The plan reflects the structure and priorities of the Fleurieu Peninsula chapter of the South Australian Regional Visitor Strategy 2025. External stakeholders include Regional Development Australia Fleurieu and Kangaroo Island (RDA), Tourism Industry Council (TiCSA)) and Tourism Australia (TA). The Regional Tourism Executive will work closely with SATC officers, Fleurieu Peninsula tourism industry operators and associations, Council tourism managers, Visitor Information Centre managers and other tourism-related staff.

Key result areas are tourism development, marketing, relationship development, industry liaison, industry capability building, finance, funding, safety awareness and administration. FPT KEY OBJECTIVES • To develop a competitive, sustainable tourism industry • To provide leadership to the region’s tourism industry • To promote the region as a year-round tourism destination • To identify gaps in and improve tourism experiences • To improve the visitor experience • To encourage industry participation in marketing activities • To strengthen the region’s brand • To manage effective relations with FPT’s funding partners • To align FPT’s annual plans with FPT’s Regional Visitor Strategy. KEY RESULT AREAS Tourism Development through marketing, promotion and product development • Work with SATC's Destination Development& Marketing Teams in promoting and developing our regional experiences • Maximise the region's offerings and assets through close communication with SATC's marketing campaigns and trade marketing opportunities and famils • Leverage the SATC digital marketing strategies to increase awareness about the region. • Analyse and report on SATC's market research activity and data • Identify opportunities to improve the market development for the region including synergies to effectively package more tourism products. Relationship Development and Industry Liaison • Foster effective relationships with key stakeholders including local funding councils, RDA,SATC, the TiCSA) and Tourism Australia • Participate in working groups and committees that connect FPT to opportunities and increase awareness about the visitor economy in the region • Provide a regional point of contact for the industry (email, phone, face to face) and refer the industry to relevant resources which are available • Ensure that all relevant administrative records are maintained • Support SATC in hosting media and trade famils Skills Training • In partnership with SATC, TiCSA and RDA, develop the skills of industry operators so that they are better able to deliver quality experiences. Finance • Prepare an annual budget for the Board in conjunction with FPT’s Treasurer • Manage the payment of all invoices and accounts • Review quarterly results • Prepare financial reports for the Board • Maintain expenses at required level • Provide an accurate monthly statement of financials

• Manage independent audit reviews. Funding • Deliver reports to FPT’s funding partners • Seek other grants and in-kind opportunities. Business Administration • Act as Public Officer of Fleurieu Peninsula Tourism Marketing Committee • Report regularly to the FPT Board • Prepare statutory documents, reports, board papers, minutes and material in a timely fashion • Conduct marketing activities achieved within set budget • Work successfully within a flexible working environment • Manage other staff and/or contractors as required.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA Skills, knowledge & experience • A sound knowledge of and experience in the Australian and South Australian tourism and travel industry, particularly regional tourism and product development • Highly developed interpersonal skills, with experience establishing and sustaining collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders • Proven management, leadership and communication (written and verbal) skills, including people management • Proven strategic and business planning skills with demonstrated ability to translate into action plans and measurable outcomes achieved • Analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to research and develop complex reports and strategies • Ability to manage diverse stakeholders • Well-developed negotiation and communication skills • Demonstrated ability to act strategically, identify implications of change in the external environment, and initiate term business strategies, policies and plans • Proven capacity to perform effectively under pressure and to meet deadlines without sacrificing professional standards • Ability to demonstrate respect, approachability, consistency and model exemplary leadership qualities and behaviours.

CONTRACT CONDITIONS: The appointment will be subject to 6 months’ probation. Continuation of the contract is conditional upon the achievement of performance objectives and the allocation of sufficient ongoing funding. The incumbent will be required to • undertake an annual performance review • take personal responsibility for understanding and complying with the policies of OHS&W, equal employment opportunity and public administration • Maintain records of the business activities in accordance with the State Records Act 1997. Out of hours work, including intrastate, interstate and international travel, may be required Regular travel throughout the region and to Adelaide is required. The successful applicant will need to supply their own vehicle to undertake work duties for which a suitable Motor Vehicle Allowance will be paid.

The salary recognises that from time to time the employee will be required to work outside ordinary business hours as may be reasonable and necessary for the purpose of undertaking the duties and responsibilities of the contract. Compensation for this is built into the salary.
