GB Galvanizing M Motorsport Preview Rnd#2 Australian GT Championship presented by Pirelli (Clipsal, Adelaide SA) 26 February, 2013 After an outstanding debut to his 2013 national GT campaign, dual Victorian Sportscar State Champion Justin McMillan heads to round two of the Australian GT Championship presented by Pirelli, on the daunting streets of Adelaide, but as he showed during round one at Bathurst, he’s not daunted by the big stage.. “There’s no denying that there was some level of trepidation heading to Bathurst for the first time, but we went with an experienced crew, with two experienced drivers, and the goal of completing laps,” McMillan admitted. “In the end we achieved what we set out to achieve, and came out of Bathurst placed fifth in the championship heading to Adelaide, but where I had Richo [Steven Richards] and Ross [Lilley] to pace myself against there, I’m on my own in Adelaide, and I can’t wait..!” From opening practice at Mount Panorama the GB Galvanizing Gallardo LP600 was quick, and for experienced Bathurst veteran Steven Richards, he was impressed by McMillan’s pace, but also his eagerness to listen and learn. “Justin drove brilliantly all weekend,” the new AGT DSO [driving standards observer] agreed. “He paced himself early and got quicker and quicker as the weekend wore on. Had we not suffered the gearbox issue, we could well have been inside the top five, so to debut that way, and come away from an event that was as difficult to negotiate as any I’ve ever contested with a straight car, was an almost perfect result.” Justin’s debut on the streets of Adelaide won’t be the M Motorsport teams only debut for the weekend, with new partners Interlloy Engineering Steels and Alloys and FUCHS Lubricants joining existing supporters GB Galvanizing, Strategy One Human Resources and Australian Post Tensioning for the first time at Clipsal.

Auckland Transport have announced they will introduce sweeping changes to speed limits as they signalled some time ago. As I have commented before their rationale is that “inappropriate speed” contributes to 20% of deaths and serious injuries in the Super City. So, from June next year the CBD will be saddled with a blanket 30 kph speed limit, and many of the Franklin and Rodney rural roads will reduce from 100 kph to 80 or 60 kph. A record 11722 submissions were received, of which 2503 were in support, 3317 against and the balance had no firm stance. I could point out that 80% of deaths and injuries have no connection with inappropriate speed. I could surmise that the decision largely flies in the face of public opinion. I could wish them luck in getting public buy-in and compliance. I could question how a major regulatory constraint on all rate payers can be decided by unelected bureaucrats rather than the Council. But frankly, why bother? They are Council Controlled Organisation but seem to have an independence that suggests no Council control exists. I sincerely hope I am proved wrong, but I foresee very little change to the accident statistics and very little adherence to the new limits. Enough said... I have been following the MotoGP with interest this season (yes, I know they are missing 2 wheels) and it’s been well worth it. With World Champion Marc Marquez being given a curry up by the rookie Quartararo, privateer teams often out-performing the factory teams and some scintillating racing it has been great to watch.

Sunday 23rd August 2020 Matters from Race 18: Race Director Incident Determinations During the Race the RD conducted an investigation at the request of Triple Eight Race Engineering into an Incident at Turn 4 on Lap 35 when Car #18, Mark Winterbottom, overtook Car #97, Shane van Gisbergen, and contact occurred between the two Cars. After reviewing broadcast footage of the Incident and consulting the DSA, the RD determined that there was no evidence of a breach of the Rules by the Driver of Car #18. Marco Simoncelli and Alvaro Bautista have been the most consistent finishers in the MotoGP 250cc category, each scoring in 13 of the 15 races this year and are first and second in the riders' standings with one race remaining, in Valencia at the end of October. With his third place finish in Malaysia mid-October, seconds behind Bautista at the chequered flag, it was Simoncelli who was crowned the 2008 250cc champion and the Italian celebrated by completing a helmet-less victory lap around the track. Simoncelli has scored five wins to Bautista's four so far this year, but the Italian has consistently finished on the podium. Mid-season he was on devastating form, finishing second to Mika Kallio in France, and then winning the Spanish and German Grands Prix, finishing second in Britain, and third at the Dutch Grand Prix.     Jack's Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 Race Wrap... PRESENTED BY ADAPS - 100% AUSTRALIAN OWNED - QUALITY IT RECRUITMENT www.adaps.com.au This year marked the "50th Year of Bathurst", and it was a privilege to be driving for Garry Rogers Motorsport/Fujitsu Racing. The Bathurst race, the track, and the event is very special for me personally and for my family, with my father having tremendous success at this race across his 20 plus years of racing at Mount Panorama. The week kicked off on Wednesday, with a drivers parade through the main street of Bathurst, followed by an autograph session in town. The build up of the event, given the 50 years celebrations, was just massive, and the amount of fans and supporters that attended was simply awesome. The on track activity started on Thursday, with three practice sessions. This year I was driving with the Frenchman, Alexandre Premat, who had never been to Bathurst before, so the main priority on Day one was to give him as much track time as possible, and learn this tricky 6.2km circuit. Alex drove the #33 Fujitsu Commodore in the first and third practice session, while I drove in the second session, because it is a session for the co-drivers only. It was great to get out on the track and we managed the fifth fastest time. It was also good to get into competitive lap times straight away, also because we were on older practice tyres. Traditionally the GRM/Fujitsu cars are very competitive at Bathurst and I felt very comfortable straight away.
