As Head Teacher I trust that you will find it an informative guide to educational provision at Glenbervie School. I hope that our partnership will be productive and enjoyable and that your child settles quickly with us. We aim to give the children an atmosphere where they can feel secure and happy. Your child is someone special and it is our main aim to make his/her time at Glenbervie School a happy and profitable one. We take pride in the fact that this is a happy and industrious school with a real sense of team spirit. We hope that your child enjoys his/her time at Glenbervie School. The education of a child is far too important to be left to a school alone. Parents have a very important part to play too. The school handbook explains what you can expect of the school and also indicates what the school expects of you in the way of partnership, help and support. Glenbervie School is a non-denominational school with a role of 78. The school serves Drumlithie Village and surrounding catchment area. Devolved budgets are managed in accordance with authority guidelines in order to support planned improvements in the school. Our curriculum will be based around the four capacities of Curriculum for Excellence – to ensure our pupils are successful learners, confident individuals, effective contributors and responsible citizens. Our curriculum will also reflect the principles of curriculum design to ensure breadth, depth, personalisation & choice, challenge & enjoyment, progression, coherence and relevance. We will, therefore have a curriculum which we will adapt continuously over time to meet the needs of our pupils. Following the principles of Curriculum for Excellence, achievement of children and young people is celebrated in its broadest sense. This means looking beyond formally assessed learning, to recognise activities like volunteering and participation in arts, sports and community-based programmes. This approach complements the nurturing and aspirational outcomes of Getting It Right for Every Child, and our aim in Aberdeenshire to overcome inequality by Raising Attainment for All, promoting Equity and Excellence in schools, and Closing the Gap.     Education and Children’s Services EDUCATION & CHILDREN’S SERVICES PROPOSAL DOCUMENT: AUGUST 2015 ABERDEENSHIRE SCHOOLS ENHANCED PROVISION A) THE RELOCATION OF NEWTONHILL SCHOOL ENHANCED PROVISION CENTRE TO PORTLETHEN SCHOOL, PORTLETHEN AND B) THE ESTABLISHMENT OF AN ENHANCED PROVISION CENTRE AT MILL O’ FOREST SCHOOL, STONEHAVEN 1 Proposal for Statutory Consultation A) THE RELOCATION OF NEWTONHILL SCHOOL ENHANCED PROVISION CENTRE TO PORTLETHEN SCHOOL, PORTLETHEN AND B) THE ESTABLISHMENT OF AN ENHANCED PROVISION CENTRE AT MILL O’ FOREST SCHOOL, STONEHAVEN SUMMARY PROPOSAL Enhanced provision across Aberdeenshire has been reviewed and a nine area model is currently being implemented during 2014-16. (See pages 9-11 Section 4 Educational Benefits Statement 4.6.1 – 4.6.4) Each cluster will have a primary and a secondary Enhanced Provision Centre and each Area will have a Community Resource Hub. The aim is to provide support for all learners in the local schools through universal and targeted support and to ensure that Enhanced Provision is located where the need is greatest. At present the Enhanced Provision Centre for the Portlethen and Stonehaven cluster is located at Newtonhill School, Newtonhill. It is proposed that the primary Enhanced Provision Centre at Newtonhill will be relocated to Portlethen Primary School where the need is greatest. The only remaining cluster without primary Enhanced Provision is Stonehaven and the proposal is to develop a new primary Enhanced Provision Centre at Mill O’ Forest School, Stonehaven. The new Enhanced Provision model aims to increase capacity at a school and cluster level for all learners to ensure greater consistency of, and equity of access to, an improved quality of provision across the authority.

These can be summarised as follows: Aberdeenshire Priorities: these should be reflected in all areas of this document and the actions that emerge from it to develop excellence and equity; to embed the principles of GIRFEC (Getting it Right for Every Child); to provide support in developing inclusive, vibrant and healthy communities.     NEWTONHILL, MUCHALLS and CAMMACHMORE COMMUNITY COUNCIL Draft minute of 323rd Meeting of Newtonhill, Muchalls and Cammachmore Community Council held in Skateraw Hall, Newtonhill at 7.30pm on Wednesday 21st November 2018. PRESENT – Mr Morgan (Chair), Mrs Stephen, Mr Ewing, Miss Daniels, Mrs Usher, Councillors Evison, Mollison and Pike, Graeme Hooper (CLD Worker) and 8 members of the public. Mr Morgan welcomed all present. 1 – APOLOGIES – Mr Peaker. Mr Flockhart, Ms Ironside. 2 – MINUTE of 322nd MEETING – Accepted. 3 – MATTERS ARISING (1)(3.1) Newtonhill Playpark – Revised bids should be coming back – Mr Morgan still awaiting an update. Improvements should be completed by the end of the financial year. Tennis courts still need redone. (2)(3.2) Did anyone attend Community Council Forum? Mr Morgan attended. Items discussed included the Strategic Development Plan, Community Planning, Scheme for Establishment of Community Councils. (3)(3.3) Meikle Carewe Decision Making Panel – Presentation of cheques will take place in Portlethen on Tuesday 27th November 2018. (4)(3.4) Did anyone attend KDP AGM? Councillor Mollison attended. Very poorly attended. KDP are planning to move their office to the Old Court Buildings in Stonehaven. (5)(3.5) Did anyone attend Environmental Interest Group? No. (6)(8) David Liston, MD Stagecoach will attend the January meeting (7)(10.7) Post box at TESCO – Mr Morgan asked for comments on facebook. The majority were in favour of a post box being sited at TESCO. It would, however, involve the re-locating of one of the other boxes. MR MORGAN to write to Royal Mail requesting post box be sited at TESCO.

SCOTTISH GEOGRAPHICAL MAGAZINK. wide, along Gips River. , The most picturesque district is Temple Bayr with Temple Mount and Temple Eange guarding the northern and the Colorado Hills the southern side. The characteristic form of the hills is flat-topped, with gentle slopes for the topmost 200 to 300 ft., then a rocky face of some 500 to 800 ft., and the remainder scree (Icelandic skritha = an accumulation of loose stones). These screes obscure the solid rock round the base of the hills. In all cases the ascent is diffi- cult, and on this map the Pyramid, De Geer Range, and Mount Jean are the only summits that can be reached with comparative ease. A series of soundings taken in Klaas Billen Bay and a large-scale survey of Bjona Haven, together with soundings taken in Storfjordr have been handed to the Hydrographic Department of the Admiralty for use on the next edition of the Spitsbergen chart.
