2 2021 WASHINGTON MODEL ORGANIZATION OF AMERICAN STATES

The Washington Model Organization of American States (WMOAS) encourages participant universities and delegates to connect with one another, not only through the online platform of the virtual Model but through social media to support the work that each delegation develops during its participation in the model. For that purpose, the WMOAS is present on the following social media outlets:

Follow us...... on Twitter at @iddawmoas using the hashtag #2021VirtualWMOAS ...on Instagram at @wmoas using the hashtag #2021VirtualWMOAS ...on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/idda.wmoas/ and https://www.facebook.com/wmoas/

While utilizing social media during the conference, we ask that you follow social media etiquette. Please feel free to share your experiences on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram throughout the model but keep in mind the following guidelines:

• Faculty advisors should supervise all delegations’ pages and accounts. If possible, mention the official accounts established by IDDA in your posts so that we may share your stories and together contribute to the visibility of the model and the OAS. • Remember to mute your social media notifications while using your devices for the Virtual WMOAS so they do not interrupt proceedings with notifications and messages. • Exchanges in the accounts should be for the purposes of the model and its official scheduled activities ONLY. Other exchanges should be limited to personal accounts. • Do not post pictures of other participants and/or their work without their knowledge and consent. Participant universities should follow their own institutional policies in this regard. • Be respectful of other member’s ideas in both tone and content, this includes degrading or personally attacking a resolution.

Please use social media as much as possible to engage with other participants both prior to and during the model. This is a great tool to discuss resolutions, schedule meet ups, stay in touch about meetings and events during the model and in the future! This is also a great tool to provide feedback to WMOAS Coordinators, feel free to direct message us directly with issues or concerns! Thank you and enjoy the #2021VirtualWMOAS!!!

□ Behave and respect the diplomatic protocols of the e-Model at all times, including the use of proper language and communication. □ Behave in a manner that is kind and respectful to all delegates, participants, elected authorities, and WMOAS staff and support personnel, not interfere with the smooth development of the 2021 e-Model and comply with the decisions of the WMOAS authorities as final. □ Refrain from any sign of discrimination based on gender, sexual orientation, race, country of origin, age, religion, physical limitation, or favoritism.

To promote the formality and seriousness of the e-Model, along with its secure and orderly operation, participants must:

□ Be punctual and attend the sessions according to the schedule for daily sessions that is available at www.wmoas.org. Delegates who arrive late for sessions must be recognized by the committee chair to be afforded voice and vote in that session. If delegates lose camera access during a session, they must inform the Chair through the chat function in order to retain voice and vote privileges. □ General online etiquette: While in committee, strictly refrain from eating, smoking, drinking beverages (other than water). This indicates a general disinterest in the proceedings of the committee. Delegates are to refrain from using other electronic devices that interfere with the debate and avoid side conversations and multitasking. □ Microphone Awareness: Microphones are almost always on. Delegates should remember that the committee can hear noises in their environment such as dogs barking, family member conversations, TV sounds, whispering, chewing, sneezing, and tapping of pens and pencils. They should keep distractions to a minimum or mute their microphone. Delegates should do their best to find a quiet place free from any other distractions. □ Camera Awareness: During the opening and closing ceremonies and committee sessions, it is required that delegates be live on camera the entire session with camera eye contact.
