2019 NBA DRAFT LOTTERY FACT SHEET

Tuesday, May 14 – Chicago, IL - The Hawks are participating in the NBA Draft Lottery for the second consecutive year … Last year, Atlanta moved up from fourth to third in the Lottery. On draft night 2018, the Hawks acquired the draft rights to the fifth pick, , along with a future first-round pick, from Dallas, in exchange for the draft rights to Luka Dončić (the third pick). - The Hawks’ own 2019 first-round pick is currently at the 5th position. - If Dallas’ 2019 first-round pick is not among the top 5 picks, Atlanta will receive the Mavericks’ first-round pick (the Hawks have a 73.7% chance of receiving the pick). Before the Lottery, Dallas’ pick is at the 9th position. The Hawks also currently have three 2019 second round draft picks (#35, #41 and, depending on Lottery results, #44, #43 or #42). The odds for the remaining teams in the 14-team lottery decreases gradually after the top three, with approximately a 1%-2% difference between lottery teams.  The number of picks determined by the lottery is four (compared to three under the prior system). This means that the team with the worst record can receive no worse than the fifth pick, the team with the second-worst record no worse than the sixth pick, etc.
