download app someone in family sharing paid for Question: Q: Can’t download apps on family sharing. I have recently started family sharing. The other member can download apps off of my device but I can’t download anything from theirs. On the purchased menu, the apps appear with the cloud with the arrow in it next to the image of the app. I click on the app to download and a spinning circle appears for a few seconds then the cloud with the arrow comes back. I am connected to the WiFi and have loads of memory space. I have tried signing in and out, leaving and returning family sharing and getting the other member to sign in and out. Is there anything I can do about this? Family Sharing. Share your favorite things with your favorite people. Family Sharing lets you and up to five other family members share access to amazing Apple services like Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple News+, Apple Arcade, and Apple Card. 1 Your group can also share iTunes, Apple Books, and App Store purchases, an iCloud storage plan, and a family photo album. You can even help locate each other’s missing devices. Getting set up is simple. Choose what you want to share, invite your family members to join, and enjoy each other’s digital company. Get organized. One adult in your family — the organizer — invites all the other members to join and sets up accounts for anyone under 13. 2 Once family members join, Family Sharing is set up on everyone’s devices automatically. The group then chooses which services and features they’d like to use and share. Keep everyone entertained. Whether it’s music, TV and movies, news, or games, Apple entertainment services have something for everyone. And with Family Sharing, your whole group can share the same subscriptions. Family members access each service from their own Apple IDs, so they see only their own content, preferences, and recommendations — not the whole family’s. Apple TV+ Original shows and movies from the world’s best storytellers. Apple Music. Over 75 million songs ready to stream or download, ad‑free. Apple News+ Hundreds of magazines and leading newspapers at your fingertips. Apple Arcade. Unlimited access to more than 100 games. No ads, no in-app purchases. Share an iCloud storage plan with your family. Your entire family can share a single iCloud storage plan large enough to store everyone’s photos, videos, and files. Each person’s files and documents remain private, but it’s easy to see how much storage everyone is using. If you need more space, you can upgrade to a larger plan at any time. 200GB $2.99/month Shareable with family 2TB $9.99/month Shareable with family. Apple One. Bundle iCloud with up to five other great services. And enjoy more for less. All your family’s purchases on all your family’s devices. When you set up purchase sharing, everyone in the group gets immediate access to the songs, albums, movies, TV shows, books, and apps purchased by family members who choose to share them. New purchases appear in the Purchased tab in Apple Books, the App Store, or iTunes for each family member. Just select the family member whose collection you’d like to browse, then download or play the content you choose. Other family members can access your collection in the same way. If you want to keep some purchases private, you can choose to hide individual items. Music Movies Books Apps. Making purchases is easy. So is setting limits. When your family sets up purchase sharing, all new Apple Books and App Store purchases will be billed to the organizer’s account. But if Ask to Buy is turned on for children in the family, the organizer can still call the shots. When a child initiates a purchase, an alert is sent to the organizer, who can review the download and approve or decline it right from the organizer’s device. This applies to both purchases and free downloads. They ask to buy. Before your children can make a purchase, they must ask your permission. You reply from anywhere. A notification appears on your device. You can review the request, then approve or decline it. Be more aware of how kids use their devices. Screen Time can give you a better understanding of how much time your kids spend using apps, visiting websites, and on their devices overall. When you use Screen Time with Family Sharing, you can review your kids’ activity reports and set time limits for specific apps right from your own device. You can also name another family member as a parent/guardian, so that you’re always on the same page when it comes to your kids and their screen time. Question: Q: Is there a way to block an app on family sharing that has already been approved? So with family sharing I apparently had the app sharing enabled which allowed my son to be able to download any app that I had downloaded without "asking for permission" through the app store first. This has created some problems with a couple apps we didn't allow access to. Now that he has previously downloaded them, it won't make him ask for permission if it's downloaded again. Does anyone know if there is a way to block this app from his apple ID "child" account or make it so he has to "ask for permission" again? iPod touch, iOS 9.1. Posted on Nov 19, 2015 10:05 PM. All replies. Loading page content. Page content loaded. You can "Hide" the app: Content can be hidden by family members; hidden content is not available for download. To hide it, you need to go to iTunes on your computer and sign in with the ID that was used to make the original purchase. Then click on the App Store, then on Purchased under the Quick Links section on the right. Then click on iPad or iPhone and All. You will see the list of Apps purchased under the ID that you have signed in. Find the app you want to hide, and hover the cursor over the top left- hand corner of the app icon. You will see the pointer change to a hand. Click, and the app should disappear from the screen. It is now hidden and will not be available for download. (there used to be an "x" that displayed, but apparently that is invisible now. go figure. ) To "Un-hide" purchases you would go to the iTunes Store, click on your name, then on Account Info>iTunes in the Cloud>Hidden Purchases>Manage. You will see all of your hidden purchases displayed with an "Unhide" option below them. Sharing apps with family members in Windows 10. Here is the answer. Its quite simple and the same concept as the app store for apple. Create the new child account on the PC (you may have already done this) Sign in that account. Go to the windows store and click on the small circle icon that represents that account (either the picture of your choice or the outline of a person). Click on the account NAME (*** Email address is removed for privacy *** etc) and sign out. If it asks, enter the pin for the NEW CHILDS ACCOUNT and NOT the pin for your account (This had me confused for a little while) Sign into the store with your credentials and not the childs credentials. Family member being asked to pay again for app I already purchased and shared with her? I set up family sharing, my family members are able to locate the apps in their iphones and download them, but if they are not FREE apps, and I already paid for them, they are being asked to subscribe and pay again? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks. 2 Answers 2. If Family Sharing is enabled, they should be able to re-download paid apps at no additional cost by tapping App Store > Purchased. If they are on separate Apple ID's linked through Family Sharing they need to choose your account from the top right corner of the Purchased section in App Store. Then they should be able to download the paid app(s) at no additional cost. Normally any app is accessible to your family after setting up Family Sharing, inviting your members to your Family Group, and successfully accepting the invitation. A family group has the limit of six members. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201088 ; also from my experience all the elements of the family group have to be in the same country store. The app has then to be selected using your Account in the Purchased section by your family members (as aidan posted). However, there are hidden caveats. Not all apps can be shared. As it can be seen perusing this document, https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203046 an app can be marked as non-shareable and furthermore, an app bought by an Apple ID account for Students is not shareable to the family group. In-App purchases are not supported by Family Sharing. So if your children are playing games with the pseudo-currency, or if they are playing games that require in-app purchases to get to the full version these you would be paying for twice. Most apps are now compatible for Family Sharing. However, developers do have the option to opt out of enabling their apps to be used with Family Sharing.
