A’s Trade Ryon Healy to Seattle for Emilio Pagan and Alexander Campos

OAKLAND, Calif. – The Oakland A’s traded designated hitter/infielder Ryon Healy to the for right- handed pitcher Emilio Pagan and minor league shortstop Alexander Campos, the club announced today.

Healy batted .271 with 25 home runs and 78 RBI in 149 games in his second season in the majors last year. He walked just 23 times and his .302 on-base percentage was ninth lowest in the . Healy started 77 games at designated hitter, 38 at first base and 31 at third base. He hit .305 in 72 games in his Major League debut in 2016 and is a .282 career hitter with 38 home runs, 115 RBI, 202 strikeouts and 35 walks in 221 games in two seasons in the majors.

Pagan made his Major League debut with Seattle last year and was 2-3 with a 3.22 ERA and .212 opponents batting average in 34 relief appearances over four stints with the Mariners. He walked just eight batters in 50.1 innings (1.43 per nine innings) and struck out 56 (10.01 per nine innings) for a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 7.00. The 26-year-old right- hander also went 2-1 with five saves, a 2.56 ERA and .171 opponents batting average in 23 games with Triple-A Tacoma. He struck out 36 and walked eight and now has 305 career strikeouts in 257.1 minor league innings. Pagan was originally selected by Seattle in the 10th round of the 2013 First-Year Player Draft and is 13-16 with 51 saves and a 2.45 ERA in 168 career minor league appearances.

Campos hit .290 with two home runs and 26 RBI in 59 games with the Mariners affiliate in the Dominican Summer League in his professional debut. He added 41 walks for a .413 on-base percentage. The 17-year-old right-handed hitter played 48 games at shortstop, five at third base and three at second base. A native of Venezuela, Campos was originally signed by Seattle July 4, 2016 and is listed as the Mariners 15th best prospect by MLB.com.
