The Commission has installed a telex with an automatic answering device which gives the conversion rates in a number of currencies. This service is available every day from 3.30 p.m. until 1 p.m. the following day.

Users of the service should do as follows: — call telex number Brussels 23789; — give their own telex code; — type the code 'cccc' which puts the automatic system into operation resulting in the transmission of the conversion rates of the EUA; — the transmission should not be interrupted until the end of the message, which is marked by the code 'ffff.

Award of aid from the Guidance Section of the European Agricultural Guidance and Guarantee Fund

Council Regulation (EEC) No 1760/78

In accordance with the provisions of paragraph 3 of Article 11 of Council Regulation (EEC) No 1760/78 of 25 July 1978 on a common measure for the improvement of infrastructure in certain rural areas (L) the amount of 25 million units of account is available each year.

Projects must be included in a framework programme. The framework programme for the southern regions of submitted by the French Government was approved by the Commission on 13 July 1979 (2); fifty projects have been submitted.

Having consulted the Fund Committee on the financial aspects, particularly on the funds available, and having received the opinion of the Standing Committee on Agricultural Structures, the Commission has selected 42 applications for aid representing a subsidy of 8 446 688 European units of account.

The projects selected, which are set out in the attached list, seem to the Commission to be most in the interest of the Community.

In accordance with the provisions of paragraph 2 of Article 14 of Council Regulation (EEC) No 1760/78, the decisions awarding EAGGF aid to the projects indicated hereafter have been notified to the relevant Member State and also to the beneficiaries.

1980: 1st tranche

In accordance with the provisions of paragraph 3 of Article 16 of Council Regulation (EEC) No 355/77 ('), the amount of 80 000 000 units of account is provided for financing individual projects. To this amount should be added 2 141 163 EUA not used in 1979 and carried forward to 1980. In addition, in accordance with the provisions of Article 3 of Council Regulation (EEC) No 1361/78 (2) amending Council Regulation (EEC) No 355/77, the amount of 42 million European units of account is available for projects in the Mezzogiorno and Languedoc-Roussillon region, together with 8 015 509 EUA not used in 1979 and carried forward to 1980.

Having consulted the Fund Committee on the financial aspects, particularly on the funds available, and having received the opinion of the Standing Committee on Agricultural Structures, with the joint opinion of the Standing Committee for the Fishing Industry in relation to projects in the fisheries sector, the Commission has selected, for the first tranche of 1980, 162 applications for aid representing a subsidy of 40 454 370 European units of account, and a further 25 applications for aid representing a subsidy of 17 225 970 European units of account for projects in the Mediterranean areas.

The projects selected, which are set out in the attached list, seem to the Commission to be most in the interest of the Community.

In accordance with the provisions of Article 19 of Council Regulation (EEC) No 355/77, the decisions awarding EAGGF aid to the projects indicated hereafter have been notified to the relevant Member States and also to the beneficiaries.
