Class 1: – from Vine to Table LEARNING OUTCOMES: Course outline, Study Packs, Glasses, Exam Format Tasting and Evaluating Wine • Display an understanding of the influences on -Growing the style, quality and price of wines.

Lunch • Understand terminology

Winemaking • Name the important grape varieties and Pairing Wine with Food describe their character and the style of wine Storage & Service of Wine produced

Class 2: The Classic Varieties • Produce basic descriptions of wines using the Level 2 Systematic Approach to Tasting • Give basic advice on storage, service of wine, and food and wine matching Gewurztraminer & Viognier Semillon & Furmint

Lunch Study Pack & Students will be sent a Study Pack prior to the start of /Shiraz & /Garnacha the course that will contain: • Textbook: The complete information required to know for the course Class 3: Signature Varieties, Sparkling, & Fortified Wines • Workbook: Summative information based on Spanish Varieties & Labels the Textbook as well as review exercises and Italian Varieties & Labels pages for writing tasting notes Pinot Grigio/ Other Signature White & Red Varieties • Systematic Approach to Tasting Sheet: A 1- page sheet for reference when writing a Level Lunch 2 Tasting Note Sparkling Wines & Port Exam

Exam The examination is restricted to information contained

within the Text Book.

At the end of the last day of the course, students will be provided 60 minutes to answer 50 multiple-choice questions.

Students are required to achieve a grade of 55% to pass the Level 2 certification
