The New Normal – The New Commandment | September 13, 2020 | Pastor Dan Davis

Today’s normal says, “pick a side.”

Jesus’ new normal says, “come together.”

John 13:34-35 34 “A new command I () give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

John 1:14 The Word (Jesus) became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Loving well is more important than being right.

How will you define your life?

• “I need to be right” or • “I’m glad to be forgiven”?

1 :20 Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen.

1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

SERMON QUESTIONS Note: Update sermon questions are added here on Sundays any time after 4pm.

1. Which idea about loving each other well in spite of our differences of opinions was most helpful or meaningful to you?

2. Can you share about a time when you had a significant disagreement with a brother or sister in Christ and were able to express yourself respectfully and "agree to disagree"?

3. Do you think it is common for Christians to have disagreements/see things differently? Read Acts 15: 36-41. What can we learn from this incident in the lives of Paul and Barnabas?
