Battle Abbey

Recount written by Freya, Year 5: Clubs on next week... On Friday 19th May we went on a school trip to . We had a brilliant time and learnt a lot of things. Monday - Running Club

First we did the battle walk and along the way there were Anglo Tuesday - KS2 Netball -Saxon or Norman wooden warriors who we had to spot. Before Wednesday - Cheerleading long we came to the first figure and read all the information. Thursday - KS1 Football Friday - KS2 Football Next we split up into two groups. Botanical Artwork

Year 3 have combined science and art to produce delightful flower paintings using water colours.

They learnt the individual parts of a flower and then used their observational skills to draw and paint them.

The display is beautiful - well done Year 3!

Year 3 display Water Fountains

The FoHPS committee has been busy organising the installation of 2 new outdoor water fountains for the children to use at playtimes and lunchtimes. There is one on the field and one near the playground. This means children will have access to Year 4 trip to Slap n Dash in fresh drinking water both indoors and out.

Bring a jar of sweets

On Friday 17th May children can come to school wearing non uniform in exchange for a jar of sweets to be donated to the Summer Fete. Tesco

Thanks to the money raised by parents and members of the community at Tesco in and surrounding areas, Miss Foord has been able to spend £4000 on developing the EYFS outside area.

The whole area has been re -landscaped to include new surfacing and planters, and has also been re-resourced.

This has been an ongoing project over the last couple of years and the children in EYFS now have an inviting, well resourced area to learn and play in. EYFS Outdoor Area Well done to Miss Foord for organising and Tesco for raising the money. Dates for the diary…

The Horsmonden Nostalgia Horsmonden Social Club Group are busy preparing Monday 3rd June - Start of term 6 for their Summer Nostalgia Wednesday 5th June - Year 3 trip to Slap n Dash Day on 1st June with an education focus. Wednesday 19th June, 1:30pm - KS1 Sports Afternoon

The exhibition will feature a Wednesday 26th June - KS2 Sports Day at School range of education related Thursday 18th July, 1:30pm and 6pm - Year 6 Production memorabilia from bygone years and a display of Friday 19th July, 9am - Year 6 Assembly current pupils work form End of term 6 Horsmonden School.

Writing in Year 1

Children in EYFS have used their recent experience of visiting Godstone Farm to write wonderful recounts.

They have all persevered with cursive handwriting and are trying hard to remember their full stops and capital letters.
