Superintendent Message2 ISJUDSON6 INDCPCND[NT SCHOOL DISTRJCT THOUGHTS FROM DR. BALL Dear Judson ISD Team: I hope that each of you had a great weekend and enjoyed the additional day. As many of you might know I was born and raised Catholic. But last weekend I was invited to attend a church service with Dr. Fields at Now Word Covenant Church. Pastor Keith Graham made some statements that inspired and truly spoke to me. The message focused on community. Pastor Graham shared how the church community comes together in unity. If one hurts, they all hurt, if one is sick, they all pray. The church comes together as one because it directly or indirectly affects all of them. Comm-unity I want Judson ISD to be a true community. I want us to be in unity because we are all affectedby others actions. The principles of unityconsist of: #1 A person is a person by other persons #2 My purpose is united with your purpose #3 What affects one directly, affects all of us indirectly #41 make your interests my interests #5 No one is leftalone Those five principles truly struck me because I can see how easily they apply to Judson ISD. Our district unity should be based on the concept that Judson ISD is Driven by Excellence. What one of us does affectsus either directly or indirectly. I have recently made some decisions I believe will affects us in a positive manner. The change I am referencing is adding Pre-K 3. Some have chosen to speak and write negatively about this idea. Theyfeel the outcome of this new initiative could affect us negatively. However, if we do not continue to grow our enrollment, we will undoubtedly all be affectednegatively. As the superintendent I make decisions that are in the best interest of everyone. We are not alone in this battleto grow Judson ISD's enrollment. I ask that you please find unity in coming together to find ways to support this district. We need unity to become Judson ISD strong because if we all come together anything is possible. When we speak negatively about an aspect of our organization, it's not in a vacuum, it begins to permeate outwardly, affectingus all. Unity is when all of us are one in: messenger, message, and mission. Our Judson ISD CommUNITYneeds to be one of positivity, promotion of our district so that we come together in unity. .A. Our Students And Staff Are Producing Excellence Wagner's Coach Clark Marks Win 200! Wagner High School's Head Basketball Coach Rodney Clark now has 200 career wins to his credit...Congratulations on a great milestone. They wrapped up the historic win over Kennedy with ease and are closing in on the 30 win mark for the season. 200 career wins as head coach is a blessing and testimony to his mentoring. He has been a pillar at Wagner since it opened in 2005 making an impact on students, coaches, and staff all the while. JLA's Shuler Picked For Sim on Yout h Fellow ship Great news from the Judson Learning Academy! Johnike Shuler has been selected as a 2020 Simon Youth Foundation (SYF) Bader Fellow. JLA has no peer to peer idea/process sharing capabilities because there are no other SYF campuses in Texas. So the Bader Fellowship has been created to enhance and strengthen the SYF network of educators by using the power of exchange for professional development and for cultivating best practices. Ms. Shuler will spend five days in Nashville interacting with other educators and will develop a project demonstrating new knowledge about student support, teaching success or community impact to be presented at the SYF Annual Conference. Congratulations to Ms. Shuler! Teams from Kirby Middle School participated in the First Lego League Robotics Competition at McCollum High School recently and two teams did very well. The team holding up the trophy will be advancing on to regionals. The other Falcon team did not qualify for the next step, but placed 11th out of 42 teams which is still very good. These students deserve our congratulations for working so hard on these projects and this competition. She is Copperfield Elementary School Office Support Aide Yolanda Walker, she couldn't believe this award was for her. Ms Walker was beyond surprised to see she was chosen as the JISD employee of the month. Ms. Walker is energetic and positive to everyone she sees and has such a giving spirit about her. She has also been known to bring clothes and shoes to students. Much of this is out of her own money because she cares and, as she puts it, ?I just can?t tell them no.? Ms. Walker seen here with Dr. Ball and But most of all, Ms. Walker is one of those personalities that Copperfield Principal Sherri Wrather is a magnet to people who just need a little hug and encouragement? especially the children.
