SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 570 (As Adopted by House and Senate)

1 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING DEXTER 2 MCCLEON OF MERIDIAN, MISSISSIPPI, FOR HIS OUTSTANDING FOOTBALL 3 ACHIEVEMENT AS THE STARTING FOR THE WORLD CHAMPION ST. 4 LOUIS RAMS. 5 WHEREAS, Dexter McCleon, former at Meridian High 6 School, has reached the pinnacle of professional football by 7 playing in the 2000 and winning the championship of the 8 as the starting cornerback for the World 9 Champion St. Louis Rams; and 10 WHEREAS, Dexter was a star quarterback at Meridian High 11 School in 1990 and 1991, leading MHS to the State 5A Championship 12 in 1990; and 13 WHEREAS, Dexter was Meridian Star Player of the Year in 14 football in 1991, received the Meridian High School Skewes 15 Athletic Award in 1991-1992 as the most outstanding senior 16 athlete, received the Wendy's Area Most Outstanding Athlete Award 17 for 1991-1992, and was selected all-state in football in 1991; and 18 WHEREAS, after this stellar high school year, Dexter signed a 19 football scholarship with the University of Clemson program and 20 had an outstanding career with the Tigers prior to signing with 21 the NFL Rams; and 22 WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize this former 23 Mississippi athlete who has brought great honor to his school, his 24 community and to the State of Mississippi through his high 25 national profile at the championship level:

26 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF 27 MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That

No. 570 00\SS03\R871 PAGE 1 28 we do hereby commend and congratulate Dexter McCleon, former 29 quarterback at Meridian High School, for his outstanding football 30 achievement as the starting cornerback for the World Champion St. 31 Louis Rams, and wish him continued success in his future athletic 32 and business endeavors. 33 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be 34 presented to Dexter McCleon and his family and be made available 35 to the Principal of Meridian High School and the Capitol Press 36 Corps.
