Critical development challenges in Park Area ,

1. Adding Greenery to Streets The proper action to replenish greenery would be a systematic planting of trees as avenues on all the roads wherever possible. Every time a tree falls it must be replaced by planting a new sapling. For this purpose the horticulture department must create a "tree bank" from where young saplings can be transplanted in these new locations. These saplings should have attained a height and health that would ensure it's chances of survival after transplantation. Since these saplings would already be well beyond the sprouting stage the chances of their survival would be much higher. Also the horticulture department must monitor these transplants till they reach a stage of healthy growth . In case of any premature dying of any of these young trees the horticulture department must immediately plant another one to replace it. A continuous monitoring system has to be developed to ensure that the ultimate aim is achieved and the project does not remain a success on paper only .

2. Dirt & Open Drains in Dum Dum Park Kolkata A number of times understanding the concept of cleanliness, but seems nobody is interested and they would throw the garbage in open wherever there is a vacant space or land. Not only that they would use all thermocol plates instead of the leaf-plates available easily and good for ecology as well, and they would throw them in the open drains. How to tackle these issues since the local councilor is not that interested in a cleaner neighborhood.

3. Disaster Management - is there a plan for Dum Dum Park Kolkata ?

When a disaster occurs, like Earthquakes and floods usually it takes time for rescue to reach ground zero. Especially when ground zero is a large, densely populated metropolis area like Kolkata. The first few hours are the most critical when most of the lives can be saved and the rescuers are non-other than the survivors of the disaster. Is there disaster management plan for Dum Dum Park , Kolkata? - In case of Floods - In case of Earthquakes.

The following municipal services should be available to citizens of the locality: Booking Community Spaces , Fire Services Garbage Collection , Garbage Management Parking Lot Management , Parks and Playgrounds , Public Convenience Roads and Street Cleaning , Stray Animal Management Street Lighting , Street Vendor/Hawkers , Water Supply

4. Cleanliness in Public Markets - What is Working?

1. Most of the Public Markets are unclean and filthy 2. The space available for Public Markets are not sufficient 3. Lack of water inside the premises 4. Lack of adequate lighting 5. Work culture of the users 6. No waste management 7. Untiled premises

There has been no improvement in cleanliness in public markets in Kolkata. I live in Dum Dum Park and the public market is in a horrible condition. The wet market area (selling fish, meat etc) is far from being clean. In fact, it is so unhygienic that I use regularly disinfectants to clean vegetables, fish before it is cooked. There are open drains next to the fish vendors and one can imagine the condition of the public market. It seems that the local corporation is not bothered at all about the cleanliness of public markets.
