01.04.2011 – Ausgabe 6
Der 6. Newsletter 2011 vom 01.04.2011 Ahoi! Due to the National Assembly in Offenbach Many of You Saw Lola for the First Time
Due to the national assembly in Offenbach many of you saw Lola for the first time. This interview will give a small insight into what Lola is working on and what are her impressions of the pirate party movement here in Germany or in Russia. Lola is working as Chief Administrative Officer of the Pirate Parties International. So she is helping to coordinate the international pirate party movement. German Flaschenpost editor Patrick Ratzmann asked her a few questions about her work, the pirates in Russia and her impressions of Offenbach. Flaschenpost: Many pirates saw you in Offenbach where you held an inspiring speech about the pirate party movement. What are your impressions of the national assembly in Offenbach and its decisions? Lola: It was an honor for me to be invited to speak at such a big and important event as the General Assembly of the German Pirate Party. And of course I didn't expect such a warm and sincere reaction of the audience. It was fantastic to be there and see this giant hall filled with people, sharing the same values and ideas. I would like to thank the organizers, the international coordinators of Piratenpartei - Gregory Engels and Thomas Gaul, and all the German an international Pirates. The decisions that have been made there will affect not only the future of the German Pirate Party but the future of the whole worldwide movement. Flaschenpost: As a Chief Administrative Officer of the PPI, which of the decisions affect the whole movement of the Pirate Party? Lola: Pirate Parties International is first of all a communication channel between the Pirate Parties of the world. -

Criticism of Médicoleaks House Searches
Criticism of Médicoleaks house searches Sven Clement (l.) and Jerry Weyer of the Pirate Party Photo: Serge Waldbillig (#) Published on Wednesday, 11 April, 2012 at 14:02 (CS) Déi Gréng and the Chaos Computer Club Luxembourg have criticised the proceedings against Pirate Party president Sven Clement and a member of the Computer Incident Response Centre Luxembourg in the Médicoleaks scandal. Luxembourg's Green party said in a statement that the legal proceedings in the Médicoleaks case were representative of an “unacceptable irresponsibility” in how the government was handling data protection. They criticised that the Pirate Party was bearing the brunt of the investigation even though they merely acted as a messenger, making public the security leak, but not abusing any of the accessible data. The statement by Déi Gréng continues that the house searches can therefore be only politically motivated in order to distract from the government's failure to appropriately deal with the security issues of the medical database, and the party is therefore asking for the case to be withdrawn. The Chaos Computer Club Luxembourg meanwhile heavily criticised the fact that the government had failed to implement improved security measures protecting the medical database, while doubting the need for such a database to begin with, if it cannot be properly secured by the national data protection centre CNPD. The club showed itself disappointed that two people and their ethics were being put in question by these proceedings, while they had only aimed to “uncover and prevent deficiencies” in the system.. -
