At the palm round-about (North entrance of Carentan) 5.30 p.m. Official ceremony at “Carré de Choux” (road of Saint-Côme-du-Mont, in front of the furniture shop “But”) Fly over by US Air Force planes. Soldier parade in town between “Carré de Choux” and “Signal Monument” with the children and authorities 6.00 p.m. Official ceremony at Signal Monument (Townhall, in front of the train station) Organization: Townhall Thursday 5th June Utah Beach 8.00 p.m.-9.30 p.m. Official ceremony with American, Dutch, German and French soldiers. Legion of Honor will be given to several personalities. Organization: Townhall Saturday 7th June Sainte-Mère-Eglise 5.00 p.m International ceremony for Peace, on the church’ square. The presence of American and German Veterans, the children of Sainte-Mère-Eglise, Picauville, Chef-du-Pont, Sainte-Marie-du-Mont and Carentan schools will enhance Peace. Accompanied by Texan and German choirs, the children will celebrate Friendship, Brotherhood and links between Men with songs or texts. These values will be passed on by the children. Be there for this symbolic moment where emotion and Peace take their true sense. This exhibition shows the bravery of an American generation known as the GREATEST GENERATION. Entrance fee: 5€ It is about the story of the 101st Airborne men during Carentan liberation and of war correspondents who have saved in time one of the most important battles for the success of D-Day. A special “Stars & Stripes” will be edited by the newspaper, that still exists and given out during the exhibition. The exhibition will show a large selection of uniforms worn by these women so as other items. Tuesday 3rd June in Carentan (8.00 p.m.) Saturday 7th June in Sainte-Mère-Eglise (11.00 a.m.) and Utah Beach (4.30 p.m.) Theatre play “What if we build Peace together?”: “Maison de la Paix” is an international project for education to Peace and Reconciliation. The idea of a spectacle in three languages is to gather three countries with an essential role in WW2 and deliver together a message of Peace and of Love. The aim is to heal the wounds of History and take responsibility for the past. Art can go through language barriers and frontiers. We want to give the conviction that Peace can only happen if we all work together for a better and fairer world.
