Brigadier General Donn H. Hill became the Deputy Commanding General-Education, Combined Arms Center; Provost Army University; and Deputy Commandant, Command and General Staff College on July 2, 2020.

He was commissioned as an Infantry officer through ROTC in 1990. His first assignment was as a Platoon Leader in C/5-20 IN (M), Camp Casey Korea. Brigadier General Hill then served as the Battalion Mortar Platoon Leader and Bravo Company Executive Officer in 1/9 IN (L) at Fort Ord, CA and Fort Lewis, WA. While at Fort Lewis, Brigadier General Hill also served as the Support Platoon Leader for the 2nd Ranger Battalion.

In 1995 Brigadier General Hill returned to Korea and served as the S4 and Delta Company Commander in 1-506 IN (AASLT) at Camp Greaves. Following his assignment in Korea Brigadier General Hill served as the Regimental Training officer for the 75th Ranger Regiment at Fort Benning, Georgia. Brigadier General Hill then moved to Hunter Army Airfield and took command of Alpha Company, 1st Ranger Battalion.

Brigadier General Hill returned to Fort Benning in 2002 to serve as the Battalion Liaison Officer and Operations Officer for 3d Ranger Battalion until 2005. From 2005-2007 Brigadier General Hill served as a Future Operations Planner at United States Special Operations Command, MacDill Air Force Base. In August of 2007 Brigadier General Hill moved to Fort Polk, Louisiana and served as the Deputy Commanding Officer for the 4th Brigade, 10th Mountain Division (L).

Brigadier General Hill commanded 2d Battalion, 506th IN (AASLT) from June 2009 to December 2011. In 2012 Brigadier General Hill returned once again to Fort Benning, Georgia to serve as the Deputy Commanding Officer of the 75th Ranger Regiment. In 2014 Brigadier General Hill took command of the 1st Brigade; 25th Infantry Division in Fort Wainwright, Alaska. In 2016 Brigadier General Hill became the 3rd Infantry Division Chief of Staff.

In June 2017 Brigadier General Hill transitioned to Fort Bragg, NC to serve as the XVIII Airborne Corps G3/5/7 prior to assuming command of the 2d Security Force Assistance Brigade in January 2018.

After commanding the brigade at Fort Bragg and Afghanistan, he took his current position in July 2020.

Brigadier General Hill is a graduate of the Command and General Staff College and the U.S. Army War College. His awards and decorations include the Combat Infantryman's Badge, Expert Infantryman's Badge, Ranger Tab, Master Parachutist Badge, and Air Assault Badge.
