Pompeii: The Immortal City Object List Updated: November 2017 Description: In just 24 hours Pompeii and neighboring Herculaneum were buried by a catastrophic volcanic eruption in 79 AD. The site was lost for about 1500 years and remained mostly untouched until 1748. Now the most advanced scientific research in history brings to light the extraordinary achievements of Pompeii and the Roman world. Through artworks, interactive mechanical devices and multimedia experiences, this exhibition takes visitors on a journey through time and space to a first-century Roman town.
