President’s Report for the year 2016/2017 It is indeed an honour to present to the members of Northern Golf Inc. the Presidents Report for the period 12th October 2016 – 25th October 2017 and the Audited Financial Report for the period 1st July 2016 – 30th June 2017 VALE It is with deepest sympathy that I report to the members of the sudden death on Friday 29th September of Northern Golf Executive member Rick Putnam. Rick was an extremely honest and reliable member of the Committee where he freely debated discussion and his straight talking will be sorely missed in Committee,.We offer Jenni and his family our deepest sympathy on the loss of a husband and father. NG Executive: It is with appreciation that I thank the Executive Members of Northern Golf Inc. (NG), Northern Golf Junior (NGJ) and Northern Golf Secretary/Treasurer Rick Sindorff for their tireless and valued work for and on behalf of the golf clubs and fellow golfers in the Northern Golf District. The Northern Golf Executive, Northern Golf Junior Committee, the East Coast Golf Association of Northern Golf Inc. named above, who without their support, golf in the Northern District would not be in such a strong position as it is today. Alison Henty, Frances Hudson, Sheryl Manion, Trevor Atkinson, Andy Barnes, Belinda Bailey, Terry Ranson, Gavan Griffin and Rick Sindorff for the continued support in starting the fields and/or checking cards and making presentations to the winners and all those persons who have helped whenever a major event was held in the Northern Golf District whether is was a Northern Golf event or an event run by Golf Tasmania. To them go the thanks of Northern Golf Executive, member clubs and all the players. The Northern delegates to the Golf Tasmania Tournament Rules and Rating Committee - Frances Hudson and Gavin Griffin. Northern Golf Managers Martin Brown (Men) and Amanda Smith (Women), Northern Golf Selectors – Women - Amanda Smith & Frances Hudson. Men – Don Cameron, Rod Eiszele and Martin Brown - Northern Rules Committee – Northern Executive Committee, many thanks for your time and effort in these demanding roles for Northern Golf Inc. The Chairman Tony Bush and the Board of Golf Tasmania, Operations Manager Stuart Eaton, Development Officer Simon Weston, the Committee members of the other Men & Women’s Districts in Tasmania, it is very much appreciated by Northern Golf Inc for your support and help throughout the last twelve months. Golf Club General Managers/Secretaries and Professionals My appreciation goes to the General Managers and Secretaries of the 24 member golf clubs and Barnbougle Dunes/Lost Farm in the Northern Golf District who have helped with the smooth running of golf. In particular Peter Westfield /Tony Powell – Launceston, Frank Tedeschi – Riverside, Adrian Dennis / David Cornfield / Patrick Bessell – Mowbray, Rick Woolley – Bryce Gorham - Prospect Vale and the local PGA members, Michael Swan, Bryce Gorham, Brent Barlow, Kevin Conlong / Daniel Smith, David Cramp, Bill Husband and Jason Russell. To each a very big thank you! Also to Richard Sattler – Barnbougle. Without the help from all of the above Northern Golf would struggle to be competitive as a District. The Executive of Northern Golf Inc. clubs and the golfers in Northern Tasmania appreciate all the work that these fellow golfers do. Northern Golf Secretary/Treasurer - Rick Sindorff What a massive job that Northern Golf’s Secretary/Treasurer Rick Sindorff does for all the golf clubs in the Northern District and for you the players, not only attending events but all the behind the scenes work that no one sees, such as preparing for Northern Golf meetings every six weeks, entries for the Northern Golf major events, as well as being on hand when tournaments are run. Work on pennants, managing the financial affairs of the District, communicating with member golf clubs, individuals, other districts, news media, Golf Tasmania, updating Northern Golf’s Facebook and website, and stand in Secretary for Golf Tasmania when asked, are but to mention a few, and I for one appreciate all the work that Rick does for golfers in the state. It is a real pleasure to work with him and my humblest thanks for a job extremely well done again in 2016-2017. East Coast District Golf Association: My thanks go to the Executive of the East Coast Tasmania Golf Association for their continued support and administration of golf on the East Coast of Tasmania. Tim Longden – President, Norm Tildesley – Secretary, delegates Garry Walker - St Helens, Robert Bourke - Scamander River Northern Golf Annual Dinner: My thanks to the Frank Tedeschi and Riverside Golf Club for hosting the 2017 Northern Golf Annual Dinner on Friday 23rd June, incorporating the presentation of the 2017 Northern Golf - Country Club Tasmania and the Prickly Restaurant women’s and men’s 2017 pennant flags. A big thank you to Barry and Julie Scott from Scott Signs for the rush job on getting the 2017 pennant flags ready for the presentation night. 2017 Women and Men Pennant A special mention to the Division 1 Prospect Vale Golf Club women’s pennant team, this was their first time in Division 1 and to win the 2017 Northern Golf flag then to continue on to win the Women’s State Pennant flag is an outstanding performance, The Exeter Div 3 team for not only winning a Northern Golf flag, but also going on to win the Div 3 State pennant flag for the second year in a row. Women’s Pennant Teams that won a flag in 2017, Div 1. Prospect Vale, Div 2 Riverside, Div 2 St Helens, Div 3 Exeter. Northern Golf was unable to field a Div 4 for Women; it was most unfortunate for all those women’s players who could have enjoyed pennant in Div 4. I would hope that 2018 brings more Ladies playing pennant in all four divisions. Well done to all those ladies who represented their club in pennant for 2017. Congratulations to the following men’s divisions on winning the 2017 Northern Golf pennant flags, Div 1. Launceston, Div 2. Launceston, Launceston then went on to win the Div 2 State flag, Div3. Launceston, Div 3. St Helens, Div 4. Riverside, Div 5. Prospect Vale, Div 6. Launceston, Div 7. Riverside, Div 8. Mowbray. with Div 6.Launceston winning the Handicap Final for 2017. Prospect Vale Junior’s won the 2017 the Northern Golf Junior Pennant and then were awarded the 2017 State Junior Pennant Flag Congratulations must go to all Northern Women, Men & Juniors players who have served Northern Golf District with distinction around the State and on the National scene during the last 12 months. Rod Eiszele: Rod Eiszele with his column in the Examiner every Wednesday keeps everyone in touch with what is happening at golf clubs, Districts, Golf Tasmania, Golf Australia and Tasmanian players around the world. This is the 38th year that Rod has been the Examiner golf columnist, a friend to all golfers and on behalf of all golfers in the State, (personally it is a privilege to work with Rod), our sincere thanks to Rod for a excellent job well done.
