I am delighted to introduce the first Health Improvement Plan for South East Glasgow. As you know we face many challenges in improving the health and well being of the people who live in the Contents South East of Glasgow. The South East Glasgow Health Improvement Plan is for the period 2009-12, during which we hope to make substantial progress in health outcomes for local communities. This plan has been produced by a range of organisations working together. These partners are: The South East Glasgow Community Health and Care Partnership (CHCP), Culture and Sport Glasgow, the Housing Sector, Strathclyde Police, Strathclyde Fire and 1.2 Rescue, , Job Centre Plus, and Nautical Colleges, Glasgow South East Regeneration Agency, the Voluntary Sector, Glasgow Community Safety What Do We Services and community residents. Characteristics There are sixteen distinct areas within South East Glasgow. These are: Battlefield, , , , Battlefield , Crosshill, Greater Gorbals, Govanhill, Kings Park, Langside, , Pollokshields, Shawlands, Simshill, and Toryglen. The area has a population of Kings Park just over 100,000 and includes some of the most deprived communities in Glasgow.
