This is the Dean Koontz I love! I initially listened to this as an audio book and was thrilled to re-experience the story in print. Cold Cold Fire was published inafter The Bad Place and before Koontz starting coming out with novels each year. Like many Koontz novels, this work crosse Cold Fire is a beautiful story encompassing the complexities of accepting the past and moving forward into the future. Like many Cold Fire novels, this work crosses over many genres including: Science Fiction, Mystery, Suspense and Adventure. It appears that Koontz has created a fictional work within his work of fiction: The Black Windmill, reportedly written by Arthur J. We of course know that Koontz is and expert at creating fictional names and works, claiming they were written by someone else but really the author is Dean R. Another example of this is The Book of Counted Sorrows from which the following quote appears twice in Cold Fire to Cold Fire readers to both part one and two of the story: "In the real world Cold Fire in dreams, nothing is quite what it seems. During the course of the first few seasons of "Star Trek: Voyager", the character Kes changes tremendously. At first, she's sweet and a bit saccharine. Later, she shows some nice empathic qualities when she begins working Cold Fire the Cold Fire. Later, however, she shows she has super-powers--something that make her a very interesting character!
