I Volbeat hanno pubblicato a novembre il video di “Die To Live (feat. Neil Fallon)”, diretto da Adam Rothlein per Ghost Atomic Pictures e girato al Futura Studio di Roslindale, MA. La canzone e il video vedono la partecipazione del cantante dei Clutch Neil Fallon, oltre che di Raynier Jacob Jacildo e Doug Corcoran della band di JD McPherson. Lo scorso hanno è uscito il loro settimo album in studio Rewind, Replay, Rebound. Nel realizzare questo disco i Volbeat (Michael Poulsen, chitarra/voce, Rob Caggiano, chitarra, Kaspar Boye Larsen, basso, e Jon Larsen, batteria) sono partiti dal loro distintivo suono rock’n’roll, psychobilly, punk per il quale sono ben conosciuti, alla ricerca di nuove vette creative. “Il punto fondamentale per noi quando entriamo in studio è l’avere ancora qualcosa da dimostrare, non solo ai fan, ma soprattutto a noi stessi”, afferma Poulsen. “Non saremmo stati in grado di fare questo disco se non fosse per il lavoro che abbiamo svolto in passato. Non importa quanti anni abbia la band o quanti dischi abbiamo fatto, ci sarà sempre quel suono caratteristico”. A questo punto della loro già solida carriera, i Volbeat hanno aperto per Metallica, Motörhead e Slipknot, hanno ottenuto una nomination ai Grammy del 2014 per la categoria Best Metal Performance 2014 per “Room 24” e hanno vinto numerosi Danish Music Awards. Per questo album, scavano nelle loro storie personali e in quelle del loro genere. La canzone “When We Were Kids” vede i Volbeat rimuginare sull’immortalità e l’innocenza che noi tutti viviamo ingenuamente durante la nostra gioventù, mentre “Rewind the Exit” e “Die to Live” esplorano il fatto che la ricerca della perfezione può essere un obiettivo vano. Rewind, Replay, Rebound è stato prodotto dal collaboratore di lunga data Jacob Hansen e co- prodotto da Rob Caggiano e Michael Poulsen. È il primo disco in studio con Kaspar Boye Larsen al basso. Per ottenere il suono dell’album, la band ha anche invitato una miriade di ospiti. Oltre a lavorare nuovamente con la cantante Mia Maja su diversi brani, si sono anche riuniti con l’Harlem Gospel Choir. Il cantante dei Clutch Neil Fallon è presente in “Die to Live”, come risultato del tour insieme e dell’amore per lo stile rauco e potente del cantante. Anche Raynier Jacob Jacildo (piano) e Doug Corocran (sassofono) della band di JD McPherson mettono a disposizione della canzone il loro talento. “Cheapside Sloggers” presenta un assolo di chitarra stravagante del chitarrista degli Exodus e degli Slayer, Gary Holt. In definitiva, i Volbeat non hanno perso la passione di creare e progredire. È quello che li mantiene affamati e musicalmente onesti nel nuovo album. I Volbeat nascono a Copenhagen nel 2001. Da allora, si sono fatti strada con tour infiniti e album di grande successo. Il loro disco in studio “Seal The Deal & Let’s Boogie” ha debuttato al #1 in sette Paesi (Germania, Danimarca, Svezia, Finlandia, Belgio, Austria e Svizzera); in Canada e Norvegia è entrato al #2, negli USA al #4 e in UK al #16. Di recente la band ha pubblicato Let’s Boogie! This last hurrah will start at the Explore Asheville Arena in Asheville, North Carolina, and see the band taking its goodbye bow at the Los Angeles Forum on Saturday, November 30. The tour will stop in Colorado Springs at The Broadmoor World Arena on Wednesday, November 20. Accompanying Slayer for this last ride are Primus, Ministry and Philip H.
