Brothers and Sisters in Jesus Christ:

Did you know that today is ’s birthday? Yes, on April 13, 266 years ago, our third president yelped his first cries into the world in central Virginia. Now, there is no doubt that Mr. Jefferson was one of the founders and architects of our re- public, and there is no doubt that he is one of the greatest statesmen and leaders not just in American history, but in all of world history. However, Mr. Jefferson left a lot to be desired when it came to his Christian faith. If you read any of his biographies, Jefferson prided himself on his massive intellect. Indeed, he was one of the most intellectual people America has ever produced. Yet, he let his love of logic get the better of him when it came to explaining Christianity. He even took it upon himself to write his own version of the Bible from the original Hebrew and Greek texts. The problem was, Jefferson removed all references to and signs, with all of the wonders which marked Jesus’ earthly ministry erased completely. After all, according to the author of the Declaration of Independence, it was not at all logical that a mere mortal could begin to even think about doing all of those other-worldly things He claimed. So, logic ruled and Jefferson’s bible turned out to be no Bible at all.

Can you even imagine life according to Jefferson’s bible? How can any of us begin to worship a God who cannot be God? It is logically impossible! God is God, and even the philosopher agreed that life had to begin with a “First,” or “Prime” Mover. May I be even bolder as to say that it is foolish to say there is no God, especially the God we know through Jesus Christ? The scriptures are accurate: “The fool says in his heart, ‘There is no God’. (Psalm 14: 1a)” For all of his great accomplishments, Thomas Jefferson, in one very important aspect, was a fool. Did he ever stop to wonder who gave him the ability for logic in the first place?

Thank the Lord of Hosts that life is not like that of Jefferson’s bible. We have and know the true Bible, and the scriptures do not lie. God’s Word tells us that God sent His only Son, and that Son healed the sick, raised the dead, and rose from the tomb to defeat death and the grave once and for all. Let the message of Easter resound in your hearts, souls, and minds for all time to come; let Him enter your hearts and allow Him praise and glory each and every day and evening of your life. When you receive the , you will receive the wisdom which surpasses all human understanding; the true wisdom which is even greater than that of Mr. Jefferson. God bless you and yours, and may the story of Easter be ever alive in your lives until we meet again in the Kingdom of . As always, I am,

Your brother in Christ, Larry
