From a rational perspective, this is quite understandable as the additional joy of Sukkot Rabbi S Lipskar relates to the natural cycle of the season of harvest, the happiest time realizing the bounty of one’s hard work in the fields and the results of Hashem’s blessings.

Simchas Torah brings an increased dimension of joyfulness on a completely different level. The joy is expressed on a very basic and seemingly simple level as we dance with the Torah while it is dressed in its garment and not by reading it, studying it or understanding it. Just dancing with it, we almost serve like legs for the Torah to dance as we embrace it and express with song, jubilation and dance our love and gratitude for this celestial gift that continues to direct our lives through the millennia of time, in the most extraordinary, successful and over the top manner.

It is almost a dance of abandonment. As we leave our physical spaces and enter into another spiritual environment, it carries us in a magical journey of ecstatic celebration. It is as if the feet are speaking instead of the head, recognizing a simplicity of 3 THE MONTH OF TISHREI EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW FOR THE HIGH HOLIDAYS

9 Wednesday, 26 Tishrei Learning from Failures [G-d told Cain,] “If you improve, you will be forgiven.” Genesis 4:7

Cain’s true failure was that he did not learn from G-d’s positive response to Abel, who had offered up the choicest of his animals. Had Cain presented a second offering, this time from the choicest of his crop, G-d would have forgiven him and accepted it. G-d here tried to teach him that if an individual learns from his errors, his slate can be wiped clean. However, Cain refused to admit his error. Convinced of the rightness of his action, he felt that if Abel were eliminated, his own view would necessarily prevail.

Our challenge, as well, is to learn from our failures, rather than to stubbornly refuse to admit them and even rationalize them. By learning from our failures, we can transform every one of them into an impetus for further spiritual growth.

He [Moses] said: “The Lord came from Sinai and shone forth from (the land of) Saeir to them; He appeared from Mt. Paran and came with some of the holy myriads; from His right hand He gave them a fiery Law.”

ON SIMCHAT TORAH WE DANCE WITH OUR FEET, NOT WITH OUR HEADS.

WE ARE CELEBRATING THE TORAH, AND THE TORAH IS SOMETHING WE STUDY WITH OUR HEADS. BUT WE DANCE WITH OUR FEET, NOT WITH OUR HEADS.

IF WE WOULD DANCE WITH OUR HEADS, EACH ONE WOULD DANCE A DIFFERENT DANCE, EACH IN A DIFFERENT SPACE, SOME WITH FRIENDS BUT NOT WITH OTHERS, SOME AS LONESOME SOULS.

ONE HEAD IS HIGHER, ONE IS LOWER, ONE IS HERE ON EARTH, THE OTHER IN THE CLOUDS OR BEYOND, AND SOME MINDS KNOW ONLY THEIR OWN SPACE THAT NO ONE ELSE CAN KNOW.

BUT WE DANCE WITH OUR FEET, AND ALL OUR FEET ARE HERE ON THE SAME EARTH—NONE HIGHER AND NONE LOWER. SO NOW WE CAN ALL DANCE AS ONE, WITH ONE HEART, AS A SINGLE BEING.

NOW THERE IS NO LONELINESS, ONLY JOY. 17 MY ENCOUNTER WITH THE REBBE THE ARMY DANCE MR. YITZCHAK HERZOG
