Seymour High’s baseball team tied a school record for most wins in a season with its 5-1 victory over Sevier County in the District 2-AAA tournament championship game last week. Coach Kyle Koeneman’s Eagles will be trying to break the record with their 32nd win in their Region 1-AAA semifinal game tonight (May 17) against Tennessee High at Seymour. Sevier County will travel to Science Hill for its do or die semifinal contest. Seymour won three games in the district tourney to raise its record to 31-2. In other title games involving Class AAA local teams, Powell defeated Central 4-0 in District 3 and perennial state power Farragut came out of the losers’ bracket to beat Hardin Valley twice, 4-1 and 5-2, to claim another District 4 crown.
