Johann Wolfgang von Goethe schreibt in seinem Tagebuch 1786 "Italienische Reise": "Vier edle Veroneser schlugen den Ball gegen vier Vicenter; sie trieben das sonst unter sich, das ganze Jahre, etwa zwei Stunden vor Nacht". 1870 wird das Spiel in Deutschland wieder entdeckt und der Deutsche Georg Heinrich Weber verfasst 1896 das erste deutsche Regelwerk. Populär wurde das Faustballspiel unter Turnvater Jahr in Deutschland und ist bis heute noch in den Turnvereinen als Ausklangspiel verankert.

    2020 INTERNATIONAL SPORTS FEDERATIONS SOCIAL MEDIA RANKING #IFRANKING SOCIAL MEDIA FROM SIDE STAGE TO MAIN STAGE Burson Cohn & Wolfe Sports (BCW Sports) is pleased to publish the 2020 International Sports Federations Social Media Ranking. Published for the fourth year in a row, this ranking aims to capture the social media footprint of international sports federations and provide insightful takeaways of how different content leads to different outcomes. 2020 has been a year unlike any other for sports federations. Despite setback after setback, with cancellations and postponements of sporting events around the world, the year has been revolutionary for the whole sports industry. Since matches and tournaments were not taking place, sports fans had to look for other channels of engagement. They found what they were looking for on social media. This year’s ranking, as per previous years, includes international sports federations (IFs) from both the Winter and Summer Olympic programmes. In addition, for the first time, non-Olympic IFs have also been included. This should serve to increase the comparative and informative value of the IF Ranking. The first three reports were published by the Women’s Sports Foundation. The fourth report was published by SHARP, the Sport, Health and Activity Research and Policy Center for Women and Girls. SHARP is a research center at the University of Michigan’s Institute for Research on Women and Gender, co-founded by the Women’s Sports Foundation. The fifth report, published in 2017 by the Women’s Sports Foundation, provided the most accurate, comprehensive, and up-to-date examination of the participation trends among female Olympic and Paralympic athletes and the hiring trends of Olympic and Paralympic governing bodies with respect to the number of women who hold leadership positions in these organizations. The next edition of Sportaccord World Combat Games under the patronage of IOC will be organized in St. Petersburg, Russia - 18-28 October 2013. Two new sports will be added in this second addition of the Games. The newest Combat sports in the Sportaccord family are Savate and the Olympic Sport, Fencing.
