And there is something more they have in common now: They all lost their quarter-final matches in the Dynamic European Championships. Souquet had another heartbeat match with Radoslaw Babica. The Polish player could have won 8:6 already but he missed the 8-ball, giving Souquet another chance at the table. Souquet made the score 7:7. Then Babica had his own break. He fired into the rack, pocketed two balls and ran the whole rack, eliminating Souquet from the competition. Konstantin Stepanov (RUS) dominated Huidji See (NED) throughout the whole match. He took a 3:1 and 4:2 lead over See who achieved to come back and close the gap, still trailing 3:4. At that score, Stepanov did not allow See to take another rack, winning the match 8:3. David Alcaide (ESP) was already 6:5 up when his opponent Manuel Gama (POR) pulled out his A-game and left Alcaide sitting in his chair, winning the match 8:6. In the women’s division, Gerda Hofstaetter (AUT) lost to Russian newcomer Nataliya Seroshtan with 3:6. The match started off to Melling’s liking. He was ahead 4:0 after about 10 minutes. Knowing Melling, this is not unusual. But Petroni did not think about giving in. “I was surprised when he fought back and got me under a lot of pressure”, said Melling. Petroni performed a strong comeback and tied the score at 4:4. Then Melling Chris Melling (GBR) Foto: EPBF/AMM ran another rack with his own break and benefitted from Petroni breaking dry, taking a 6:4 lead again. Once more, Petroni was down two racks and once more he did not give in but fought back. He profited from Melling who found himself unluckily snookered after he pocketed a tough jump shot. Running that rack and another one, Petroni tied the match at 6:6. He was almost on his way to the hill when the cue ball scratched into the side pocket from an almost unbelievable angle. Lady Luck was on Melling’s side this time. So Melling was on the hill first. But needless to say that Petroni again did not give in and tied the match at 7:7. Then, after a few safety shots were exchanged, Melling found himself in the better position and ran the rack, winning the thriller with 8:7.

Liaison: Thomas Overbeck European Pocket Billiard Federation EPBF Press Officer Clercst. 2 Mobile: +49 (0) 151 23 555 139 6441 CT Brunssum Email: [email protected] Netherlands Press Release Final day of Dynamic European Championships 2011 has begun Unbelievable performance by “the Kaiser” Saturday, April 02, 2011: Ralf Souquet (GER) aka “The Kaiser” defeated Mario He (AUT) with 8:7 after being almost out of the 10-ball competition. The match had one of the most dramatic finishes that one could possibly think of. After none of the two players could get a lead of more than one rack throughout the entire match, the situation came to an unavoidable hill-hill at 7:7. Then, after a few safeties were exchanged, Mario He was the player who got the first chance. He pocketed ball after ball and he had only the 8-ball, 9-ball and the 10-ball left on the table, "The Kaiser" Ralf having a clear shot at the 8-ball. But the cue ball did not go the way Mario Souquet (GER) Foto: EPBF intended it to and he found himself on an awkward position on the 9-ball. The angle for the side pocket was too thin and he had to play a safety. He left Souquet the cue ball at the short rail on one end of the table with the 9-ball at the rail on the other end of the table. Probably the best safety he could have come up with in that situation. Ralf was sitting in his chair, having his eyes closed and seemed to be in a state of utter concentration After some time of thoughts, “The Kaiser” called the 9- ball in the side pocket and made the shot over three rails.

Jasmin took a quick 3:1 lead over Gerda. She opened the next rack with a powerful break. She had no position on the 2-ball so she decided to simply banked it in. “We have seen everything already so far – bank shots, combinations, kick shots… she just seems to never miss” comments the official commentator of the LiveStream matches Marco Takis. Gerda ran the remaining balls and got closer, making the score 2:4. Another break and run followed from Jasmin to go to 5:2. Then it was Gerda’s break shot. Two balls went down but there was no shot on the 1-ball. Gerda played a push out, leaving a combination shot for Jasmin. Jasmin pocketed the combination shot dead centre and ran the whole rack, making the score 6:2.

2010-2011 Official Rules of the BCA Pool League Our Goal To create and improve opportunities for pool players of all abilities through fair governance and equitable policies. Effective June 1, 2010 BCA Pool League 2041 Pabco Road Henderson, NV 89011 (702) 719-7665 OFFICIAL RULES OF THE BCA POOL LEAGUE www.playbca.com Copyright 2010 BCA Pool League A Message from Mark Griffin Welcome to the 2010-2011 edition of the Official Rules of the BCA Pool League (BCAPL). Our organization has received widespread praise for having the most detailed and clear set of rules in the industry. Comments from players, officials and league operators are overwhelmingly in favor of our approach to presenting rules that guarantee consistency in enforcement throughout all league competition and tournaments. Mike Shamos, resident rules guru for Billiards Digest and one of pool’s most respected individuals, wrote: “The Official Rules of the BCA Pool League are the most extensive set of rules in history, and for the first time they are accompanied by interpretive decisions. The “Applied Rulings” section deserves serious study. It is of course impossible to write a rule set that deals with every conceivable happenstance. Even the USGA rules don’t try to do that. Therefore, referees and tournament directors must be guided by interpretations so they can make intelligent rulings when new situations arise. I’m not declaring their rules to be perfect, but they try to be. The rules themselves and their interpretations have been given a great deal of thought, and the reasoning behind them is not hidden but is right there on the page.
