ON ASSIGNMENT: I SHOOT EVENTS OF INTERNATIONAL INTEREST BY STEVE LASH IFPO, HOLLYWOOD, FLORIDA
I love working as a press photographer. I especially enjoy the challenge of shooting sports. I have had media accreditation from many high profile sports events in North America including golf venues such as The Ladies Canadian Golf 2011 OPEN, The Mens Canadian OPEN, the 2012 World Championship of Golf at Doral, Florida and 2012 Polo Regional Championship in West Palm Beach, Florida. I also covered the Miami International and Ft. Lauderdale Boat shows which are the largest in the world. Another interest is entertainment. I was granted media access to the Kenny Rogers and Adam Lambert Concerts. These are a few of the events I have covered. Media access is very hard to get unless you are associated or sponsored by a nationally recognized media group. Each event usually requires an editor of a recog- nized national media group or publication to complete the application for you. I use IFPO’s Gold Press pro- gram and depend on the editorial staff to help me out. Steve Lash

The 41st Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta
... Attracts perhaps the largest single gathering of photographers on the planet
Who’s Bob?
Editor’s Note: Most days as I interact with IFPO members, I learn of your accomplishments -- large and small that make me proud. Sometimes I am blown away by what appears to be at first glance a tidbit of information. That happened when I received the Balloon Fiesta editorial submission from long time member Bob Campbell. Along with his professionally pre- pared work was a hand written note which appeared to be an afterthought. “I won the Nikon International (Capture the Millennium Moment) Photo Contest. Over 35,000 photographers competed in 2000. The Grand Prize included a trip for two to Fiji and several thousand dollars of Nikon equipment.” That caused me to pause. First prize among 35,000 photographers? That’s huge! How did he do that? Who is Bob Campbell? What I learned was so impressive that I decided to share my barrage of questions and Bob’s answers and Balloon Fiesta photos with you. Vonda H. Blackburn, Editor

SELL PHOTOS YOU ALREADY HAVE! STSTARARTT SELLINGSELLING YYOUROUR PHOPHOTTOSOS Successful stock libraries contain HIGH QUALITY images of everyday life situations. IFPO members shoot such images everyday as a matter of course. However, unless a photographer has hundreds or thousands of images, he may be shunned by the large stock houses. This could happen for two reasons, he simply may not be recognized as a successful stock photographer or his stock of a few dozen images is too small for an agency to consider. The IFPO Stock Listing service removes these barriers totally and opens doors to the international sales market.
