OAKLAND NOTES  The Oakland Athletics have lost a season-high four consecutive games…it marks the first time the A’s have won or lost more than three in a row this year…are now three games under .500, which matches their season low (April 16, 4-7)…are 7-29 (.194) against the Yankees since 2008, which is the worst record by an team over that span…are 1-4 on this six-game homestand against Los Angeles (1-2) and New York (0-2).  The A’s have 40 home runs in 47 games…last year, did not hit their 40th until game 75.  Bartolo Colon started today after celebrating his 39th birthday Thursday…became just the fifth in Oakland history to start a game at age 39 or older…the other four are (42 in 1985), (41 in 1999), (40 in 1985) and (39 in 1975)…is 4-6 with a 6.30 ERA (53 er in 75.2 ip) in 14 career appearances, 13 starts, against the Yankees…the ERA is his highest against any American League team.  Collin Cowgill (3 for 4) had a season-high three hits, his second career game of three or more hits…had four hits Aug. 28, 2011 vs. San Diego.  Coco Crisp (0 for 3) is on a 0 for 17 streak…is 1 for 20 (.050) in five games since being reinstated from the disabled list Monday.  Jonny Gomes (1 for 4) had a RBI single in the first inning and now has 31 RBI in 52 career games against New York, his most RBI against any team.  Josh Reddick (1 for 4) has homered in back-to-back games and now has nine home runs in the month of May, which is the best single-month total by an Athletic since Frank Thomas had 10 in September 2006…is batting .265 (22 for 83) with 18 runs and 17 RBI in 22 games in May.  Jemile Weeks (2 for 5) is batting .342 (13 for 38) in his career against New York.

NEW YORK NOTES  The are on a season-high tying four-game winning streak…homered three times and are now 25-11 when hitting one or more home runs compared to 0-10 when they do not hit a home run…are on an eight-game winning streak in Oakland and have won 12 of the last 13 contests at the Coliseum…are 2-0 on this nine-game road trip to Oakland (2-0), Los Angeles (three games) and Detroit (three games).  CC Sabathia is 3-2 with a 2.75 ERA (11 er in 36.0 ip) in five starts in the month of May after going 3-0 with a 4.58 ERA in five starts in April…is 22-8 with a 3.09 ERA (94 er in 273.2 ip) in 39 starts during the day since joining the Yankees in 2009…is 6-1 with a 2.62 ERA (20 er in 68.2 ip) in his last nine starts against the A’s…however, is 8-8 with a 4.84 ERA (78 er in 145.0 ip) in 23 career starts against Oakland.  Robinson Cano (3 for 5) has homered in back-to-back games, has three home runs in his past four games and four in his last eight games…is batting .352 (31 for 88) with six home runs and 16 RBI over his past 23 games.  (2 for 4) had two hits and now has 3,154 career hits, which ties him with for 14th in Major League history.  (4 for 5) had a season-high four hits and a season-high tying two home runs (also April 21 at Boston)…also homered last night and now has three in his past two games…has eight home runs for the season, seven of which have come on the road.
