SEATTLE, Washington, December 5, 2019 - Whidbey Island Race Week LLC is pleased to announce the release of the Notice of Race (NOR) for Point Roberts Race Week happening July 13-17, 2020 in Point Roberts, Washington USA. John Abel (Royal Victoria Yacht Club, Victoria, BC Canada) will be at the helm as Principle Race Officer (PRO) and he will be joined by Race Officer (RO) Paul Evenden (Vancouver, BC Canada), and Chief Judge (CJ) Jared Hickman (Seattle, WA). The regatta is open to keelboats and 19’+ racing PHRF, ORC, or in a (NFS) Cruising Class. The 2020 event will offer two big boat race circles, but will not include a dinghy race product.

Point Roberts Race Week, Corsair Marine, in association with Wright Yachts and the Northwest Association is also very pleased to also announce that the Corsair fleet will conduct their National Championships at the event July 15- 17, 2020. Corsairs will have the option to register for just the 3-day National Championship event at Race Week, or they can participate in the full 5-day event.

"We are honored to have the leadership of John Abel and his professional crew on board to assist in the first Pacific Northwest Corsair Marine Nationals,” expressed Scott Wallingford, Commodore of Northwest Multihull Association and sales and service guru at Wright Yachts. “We know the fleet will be in very good hands.”

Corsair Nationals is open to all multihull sailboats holding a valid One-design, Class, or PHRF rating. Boats expected to participate are Corsair Pulse, 750/760, 28, 31/970, Farrier, Stilletto, Formula, and a variety of other multihulls. Any group of five or more boats shall race as a separate one design class in addition to being eligible for overall awards. A multihull cruising class will also be assembled, upon demand, to host and unclassified multihulls. Based on previous National Championships, the Corsairs estimate that there will be 30-45 boats participating in the Corsair Nationals at Point Roberts Race Week.

The Corsair Nationals at Point Roberts Race Week marks the 26th anniversary of the very first Corsair Marine Nationals, which were first held in Pensacola in 1994. “Our goal is to make this an event that caters equally to both racers and recreational sailors by upping the fun factor and adding educational and informational sessions, while still providing a rigorous racing schedule for hardcore racers,” adds Wallingford.

Point Roberts Race Week registration opens on January 1, 2020.
