In his twentieth season with the Villanova program, including a five-year stint as an assistant to Coach Rollie Massimino, Coach Jay Wright had achieved his lifelong dream?and witnessed the culmination of a decades-long effort to build a culture of winning around a set of core values. In Attitude, Coach Wright shares some of the leadership secrets that have enabled Villanova, a private university with an undergraduate enrollment of less than 6,500, to thrive in the hypercompetitive world of college athletics. As he recounts the story of the 2015?16 Wildcats, Coach Wright offers anecdotes from his own journey up the ladder of success, with lessons learned on the Little League playing fields of his youth and wisdom passed down from his coaches and mentors. Each step of Villanova's journey to a national championship incorporates a signature term torn from Coach Wright's own motivational playbook.

Ohio State Head Coach Chris Holtmann Previews Matchup With Michigan After winning back-to-back games against Northwestern and Indiana, the Ohio State men’s basketball team (14-7, 4-6) will look to win its third in a row against Michigan (13-8, 4-6) at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 4. Just one day before the Michigan matchup, Ohio State head coach Chris Holtmann spoke to members of the media about the upcoming game. Michigan is a really good team, playing really well. Lot of respect for Michigan first-year head coach Juwan Howard and how him and his staff are doing. Bad luck or bad three-point defense? There’s some of both. But we’ve got to figure out some ways to contest and challenge three-pointers better. Michigan senior guard Zavier Simpson has a lot of great attributes, but I think his best attribute is his brain. His ability to read the defense is phenomenal. Offensively we’ve been pretty good, but our defensive numbers have got to get better. Offensively, we have to lower the amount of turnovers. The Indiana game was a really clean one offensively for us. Our ball movement was really good against Northwestern, too. Our ball movement is better, and part of it was how Indiana played defensively. When you’re in the best league in the country, it’s going to happen. Your biggest concern is how you’re playing. I’m interested to see how guys getting more minutes and changing roles with DJ Carton out will impact us and how they’ll develop through that.

Press Conference Transcript March 28, 2018 Interim President Dr. Greg Postel “Good afternoon; wow, what a crowd. Thank you so much for joining us here this afternoon. We can’t tell you how thrilled we are to have such an amazing crowd for us to tell a truly wonderful story for the next chapter of the University of Louisville. What an outstanding two-week period this has been for UofL and for Cardinal athletics. Let’s think back over just a few successes from the past two weeks. Our men’s swimming and diving team finished ninth in the NCAA Championship, which is their best finish of all-time. During that championship, Marcelo Acosta earned All-America honors, so special accommodation to him. Our women’s swimming and diving team finished fifth in the country. I will note that Mallory Comerford swam the second fastest 200 freestyle in history, as she won her second NCAA championship, so truly an amazing achievement for her. But there’s more, our women’s basketball team has now earned a coveted spot in the Final Four this week in Columbus, Ohio. And just two days ago, with many of you present, I had the distinct honor to introduce our new athletics director, Vincent Tyra, who will lead our program into the future. Vince took the reins of one of America’s best athletic programs. One that is committed to top performance both on and off the court. Through his work as interim athletic director, he has shown that he will continue to push for that level of excellence.

Cardinal Tradition Louisville Basketball Louisville Basketball Tradition asketball is special to Kentuckians. The sport B permeates everyday life from offices to farm- lands, from coal mines to neighborhood drug stores. It is more than just a sport played in the cold winter months. It is a source of pride filled year-round with anticipation, hope and celebration. Kentuckians love their basketball, and the tradition-rich University of Louisville program has supplied its fans with one of the nation’s finest products for decades. Legendary coach Bernard “Peck” Hickman, a Basketball Hall of Fame nominee, arrived on the UofL campus in 1944 to begin a remarkable string of 46 consecutive winning seasons. For 23 seasons, Hickman laid an impressive foundation for UofL. John Dromo, an assistant coach under Hickman for 19 years, continued the Louisville program in outstanding fashion following Hickman’s retirement. For 30 years, Denny Crum followed the same path of success that Hickman and Dromo both walked, guiding the Cardinals to even higher acclaim. Now, Coach Rick Pitino energized a re-emergence in building upon the rich UofL tradition in his 16 years, guiding the Cardinals to the 2013 NCAA championship, NCAA Final Fours in 2005 and 2012 and the NCAA Elite Eight five of the past 10 sea- sons.
