Welcome Fr. Patrick McCain to Our Parish! Fr. Patrick McCain was born on 12 December 1985, in Moultrie, Georgia. At the age of seven, he was baptized in the Baptist church his family attended. He grew up in southwest Georgia and attended Colquitt County schools. As a teenager, he discovered the and joined the Episcopal Church. He graduated from Colquitt County High School in 2004. That autumn he matriculated at Wofford College where he increasingly came to identify as an Anglo-Catholic. He was received into full communion with the Catholic Church at the East- er Vigil on 22 March 2008. The following weekend, he graduated from Wofford with an undergraduate degree in history and sociology. Immediately after college, Fr. McCain worked in healthcare and social services in Jacksonville, Florida. In 2014, he began studies for the priesthood as a seminarian for the Diocese of St Augustine. He completed one year of pre- theological studies at Mount St. Mary’s Seminary in Emmitsburg, and one year of theological studies at St. Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary in Boynton Beach, Florida. In the spring of 2016, he transferred to the Or- dinariate of the Chair of Saint Peter and took a pastoral year, splitting his time between the Church of the Incarna- tion in Orlando, Florida, Mount Calvary Church in , Maryland, Christ the King Church in Towson, Mar- yland, and St Timothy’s Church in Catonsville, Maryland. After completing his pastoral year, Fr. McCain studied for four years at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas in Rome and received priestly formation at the Pontifical North American College. He was ordained to the Diaconate on 1 October 2020 at St Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City and to the priesthood on 29 June 2021 at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Walsingham in Houston, Texas.

Many Catholics want to read the Bible but get bogged down by the long stretches that seem not to make sense or get lost among the sea of Old Testament names and places. Unlocking the Mystery of the Bible study helps you uncover the story woven throughout Scripture, so you can get the “big picture” of the Bible and understand what it’s all about. Aided by a unique color-coded Bible Timeline Chart that arranges the key people, places, and events of the Bible in chronological order, Unlocking the Mystery of the Bible will help you pick up the Bible with confi- dence and understand how you fit into God’s plan. The Cathedral of Our Lady of Walsingham will begin an eight-week study, Unlocking the Mystery of the Bible, on Tuesday evenings beginning September 14, 2021 from 7:00 pm–8:30 pm. Participants will meet every week to view an engaging video presentation and a time of lively group discussion and fellowship. Do you want to experience true freedom? Have you ever wondered what freedom means, and how to find it? Exodus is often seen as the defining moment in Israel’s history, when God called Israel out of slavery in Egypt to freedom. The story of Exodus isn’t only Israel’s story, however - it’s also our story. Exodus: Called to Freedom looks through the lens of Christ and the Church to show how God ultimately desired to free us from the deadly grip of sin so that we could have authentic freedom. The Cathedral of Our Lady of Walsingham will begin a ten-week Bible study, Exodus: Called to Freedom, on Thursdays beginning September 9, 2021 from 7:30 pm-8:30 pm. Participants will meet every week to view an engaging video presen- tation followed by a time of lively group discussion and fellowship. For more information or to register, visit olwcatholic.org/ bible-studies or contact John McGarry at 713.679.8110 or [email protected].
