European Mariapolis 2019 Tonadico, Dolomites (Italy) Press Kit blu di riferimento cielo blu di riferimento European Mariapolis 2019 Press Kit Tonadico, Dolomites (Italy) Key features about the Mariapolis ► What is the Mariapolis? A Mariapolis (City of Mary), is a gathering where the citizens of a temporary ‘town’ try to build a new type of human society based on the relationships in a family - fraternity and mutual respect, as they holiday together. Aim High is open to people of all faiths, backgrounds and ethnicities. The first Mariapolis was born in the Primiero valley (Dolomites, Italy) in the years following the Second World War. ► Why a European Mariapolis? Against the background of an increasingly fragmented continent of Europe, the Focolare movement wants to underline the beauty of the European continent in all its diversity, where the richness of every culture can emerge. The organisers comment: “We believe that through sharing our stories, our cultures and our histories - getting to know each other – we can lay the foundation for a more united Europe.” ► Where and when? From 14 July to 11 August 2019, in Tonadico/Fiera di Primiero, San Martino di Castrozza (where the main tent is lo- cated) and other places in the valley. " " ► Why the title Aim high ? The title, "Aim high", does not only indicate the fact that this experience takes place in the mountains, in the Dolomites, but also that we want to focus on relationships, as a way to live. It's a challenge one can meet, inspite the differences that exist between the various European countries, differences that can not stop the path to a united world.

INFORMATION SERVICE DOSSIER Rocca di Papa (Rome), March 2015 CHIARA LUBICH (1920-2008) Founder of the Focolare Movement Servant of God. “As with the passing of time, her fame for holiness continue to increase…” , these words were said by Bishop Raffaello Martinelli of Frascati on January 27, 2015 when he read the Decree to introduce the Diocesan Cause for the beatification and canonization of Chiara (Silvia) Lubich, founder of the Focolare Movement. Pope Francis wished to be present for this occasion through a message in which he urged «to make known to the people of God the life and works of one, who accepting the Lord’s invitation, has lit a new light for the Church on the path to unity». Origins. Silvia Lubich, the second in a family of four children, was born in Trent on January 22, 1920. Her mother was a practising Catholic, her father a socialist; her brother Gino was a communist, an anti-Fascist resistance fighter, a journalist for the daily newspaper L’Unità. At a very young age, Silvia started to frequent the Catholic Action. In 1938 she qualified as a primary school teacher and began to teach in some schools in the Trent region. Meanwhile she enrolled for a course at the University of Venice, but the outbreak of the Second World War prevented her from continuing her studies. Vocation. At the age of 19, during a programme for Catholic Action youth, Lubich visited the Marian shrine of Loreto, which according to tradition contains the house of the Holy Family. There, she discovered her vocation: a new vocation when compared to the ones known till then (marriage, convent life and a consecrated life in the midst of the world).

Hogue Received: 26 May 2015 / Accepted: 26 June 2015 / Published: 2 July 2015 Abstract: Taking the threatening anthropogenic global environmental destruction—the anthropocene—as a starting point, this paper examines the Catholic tradition, which has remained relatively indifferent to this looming crisis, asking what might help it to change its focus from a decided human ecology to one that counts the human as an integral part of the larger natural ecology. Thomas Berry, whose teachings underlie this work, suggests that since the tradition has grown out of a cosmological perspective that places the human being at the center of ethical deliberations and separate from the natural world, it needs to rely on other Earth-centered and ecological expressions to help Catholics to discover more harmonious avenues of being on Earth, which he describes as a fourfold wisdom—the wisdoms of indigenous peoples, classical traditions, women, and science. Through a critical weaving of these wisdoms into a conversation with the Catholic tradition, this article examines the efficacy of the fourfold wisdom to transform the tradition into a more Earth-honoring expression. While this work concludes that the fourfold wisdom is effecting change where engaged, it also reflects on the challenges and opportunities this engagement faces in light of current realities within the Catholic tradition.

  • Maria Voce President of the Focolare Movement
INFORMATION SERVICE DOSSIER Rocca di Papa (Rome), January 2016 Maria Voce President of the Focolare Movement Maria Voce was elected president of the Focolare Movement during its General Assembly in 2008. She is the first focolarina to succeed the foundress, Chiara Lubich, who passed away during that same year. The 2014 General Assembly re‐elected her for a second term. The first of seven children, she was born in Aiello Calabro (Cosenza, Italy) on July 16, 1937. Her father was a doctor; her mother a housewife. Struck by the gospel witness of some fellow students, members of the Focolare Movement, whom she met during her university years in Rome, Maria Voce started to live the spirit of the Movement. At the age of 26, she felt God was calling her and left a very promising career ‐ she was the first woman lawyer at Cosenza’s Court ‐ to follow him in the way of the Focolare. Chiara gave her the name “Emmaus”, which recalls the event of the two disciples, who on the way to the village of Emmaus, encountered Jesus after his resurrection and recognized his presence in their midst through the breaking of the bread. After 8 years in Sicily, for 6 years she was one of Chiara Lubich’s personal secretariat. Then, she spent ten years in Istanbul, where she established ecumenical relationships with Demetrio I, who at that time was the Patriarch of Constantinople and many other metropolitans, among them, Bartholomew I, who is now the Patriarch. During these years, she also had the precious opportunity to establish direct contact and relationship with the Islamic world.

Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church Newsletter July 11, 2021 My Dear Parishioners The Blessed Apostles and Disciples had everything they ever needed for a complete and joyful life in their relationship with Jesus Christ. They knew, however, what they had was not just for themselves. They knew that they were the chosen instruments so that others could also have the complete joy a relationship with Jesus Christ. So they went out at our Blessed Savior’s command as both missionaries and messengers. They went out both before and after His Passion, Death, and Resurrection. They wanted everyone they met to have what they had. We, of course, are the beneficiaries of their desire that all people should have an opportunity to have true relationship with Our Blessed Savior. As we give thanks for the Mission of the Blessed Apostles and Disciples, this is a good weekend to give thanks for those who were the instruments in our lives who first introduced us, or helped to re-introduced us, to Our Blessed Savior. They could be our parents who had us baptized as babies, a spouse, a family member, a friend, a priest, a nun. May God always give us the gift of true appreciation for the missionaries and messengers that He has placed in our lives, and may He give us the grace to always be good and holy instruments to those around us. On a similar note, an important way we as a parish community “pass on” the Faith is through our CCD program. I am very happy to report that I have appointed Mrs.

The Holy See PASTORAL VISIT TO FRASCATI, ITALYHOLY MASS HOMILY OF HIS HOLINESS BENEDICT XVI St. Peter's Square, Frascati Sunday, 15 July 2012 [Video] Dear Brothers and Sisters, I am very pleased to be with you to celebrate the Eucharist and to share the joys and hopes, efforts and commitments, ideals and aspirations of this diocesan community. I greet Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, who is my Secretary of State and the titular of this Diocese. I greet Bishop Raffaello Martinelli, your Pastor, as well as the Mayor of Frascati. I thank them for the courteous words of welcome with which they have greeted me on behalf of you all. I am glad to greet the Minister, the Presidents of the Region and of the Province, the Mayor of Rome, the other Mayors present and all the distinguished Authorities. I am also very glad to be concelebrating this Mass today with your Bishop, a very faithful and capable collaborator of mine in the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, as he said, for more than 20 years. He was involved above all in the catechism and catechetics sector where he worked in deep silence and discretion. He contributed to the Catechism of the Catholic Church and to the Compendium of the Catechism so in this great symphony of faith his voice is also truly present. In this Sunday’s Gospel Jesus takes the initiative of sending the Twelve Apostles out on mission (cf. Mk 6:7-13). In fact the term “apostles” means, precisely, “messengers” or “envoys”. Their vocation was to be fully achieved only after Christ’s Resurrection with the gift of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost.
