Copenhagen it is!

In this booklet you will find all the information for our upcoming trip to Copenhagen. Travel information, information on our hostel and the daily schedule are just a few of the chapters in this nifty little guide. Make sure you take a good look at all the information we have prepared for you and keep this booklet with you at all times!

It is with great pleasure and an unparalleled level of pride that we present to you the program of our upcoming trip to Copenhagen. It contains the necessary information about international travelling, bus travel, the hostel and of course a brief explanation of our daily program. Hopefully, you will all be sufficiently prepared and we look forward to seeing you all on the 26th of March at Amsterdam Sloterdijk station!

Let’s make this a trip to remember!

Kind regards,

Astrid Verhage & Frans van Rumpt

What to bring:

● A valid Dutch passport or ID-card. ● A Health Care pass. ● Take our advice and leave your passport in a locker at the hostel and carry a photo- copy or any other photo-ID with you. Losing your passport will cause a lot of trouble including serious financial consequences. ● Sturdy walking shoes; be prepared for a lot of walking every day. ● Shower thongs/flip-flops might be handy since we have shared bathrooms. ● Warm clothes and a lightweight waterproof jacket. While March brings the first month of spring, temperatures are not much warmer than February and rain is also a possibility. Check the weather forecast before we leave. ● Clothing for our sports activity at Greve Gynasium. ● Your wardrobe is up to you, but keep it light and practical. ● You can get Danish khrones at an ATM machine at Copenhagen central station, or exchange euros for khrones in the Netherlands. That’s up to you! ● Please make sure your phone provider covers international travel and you’re clear on the charges of phone use outside of the Netherlands, if not this can be activated by doing so either online or by contacting your provider. ● You’re allowed to bring two pieces of luggage (with name- and address- label). The maximum allowed weight of your luggage is 25 kg.

Insurance

Parents will have to sign a letter of consent, which enables us to act on behalf of the parents if necessary. Attached to the letter of consent are also the school travel rules, so with signing this letter parents also commit to the rules for travelling with Schoter School trips.

Neither the school nor the chaperones can be held responsible for loss or damage to you or your possessions during this trip. Be sure to have a travel insurance with worldwide coverage!

Medication

If you take prescribed medication, have them properly identified and ask your doctor for a medical passport. Carry all medication in your hand luggage; this is in case your suitcase gets lost and doesn’t arrive in time.

Lodging

We will be staying at a nice hostel close to the center of Copenhagen. The address is:

Danhostel Copenhagen Vejlands Alle 200 2300 Copenhagen S Phone: 0045- 32522908 http://www.danhostelcopenhagen.dk/

Keep the address of the hostel with you at all times.

Dormitories

We’ll stay in 5 persons dormitories. Everybody gets an electronic key card to open the door to your dormitory. Keep this key in your purse/backpack and don’t lose it! Sheets, blankets and towels are provided for. Everybody has a personal locker for valuable items. Once we’re back at the hostel you’re not allowed to go out anymore. Bedtime is somewhere between 11 and 12 o’clock. You are allowed to stay up and spend the evening inside or outside at the patio. In this hostel there are many other young people and you are expected to behave yourself. There will be no running around corridors or making noise in the bedrooms at any time. The hostel has a resident staff that will monitor your behavior.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner

We have breakfast in the hostel every morning at 8:30 sharp: coffee, tea, juice, fresh fruit, assorted bagels, choice of cereal. The hostel has a cafeteria, an internet room, a lounge area and a patio. You can check it all out on the website. Our evening meals will be part of the program in the city and are at our expense.

Transportation Everybody gets a 3-day Copenhagen-card; if you lose it you have to buy a new one yourself (€ 43).

We want you to use a backpack or a purse/wallet on a string around your neck for your money, bank card, key card and your metro-card. Don’t put your purse in a back pocket or in a handbag for the obvious reason that every big city has thieves and pick-pockets.

Makes sure you always stay with your group and your chaperones when we move around the city. During the activities we’re together at all times!

Always keep the telephone number of your chaperones with you!
