CLC/270/MS03313 Great Chronicle of London being a chronicle of [1512?] Available only with advance the City of London from the first year of the notice and at the discretion of the reign of Richard I to the third year of Henry VIII LMA Director (1189-1512). The main portion was written by a mid-15th century hand which records events up to 1439; two later hands of the early 16th century subsequently brought it up to date, 1512. The first of these hands has been identified as Holkham Hall. The second hand may be Robert Fabyan (c.1450-1513), one time Sheriff and Alderman of London, and Master of the Drapers’ Company. Fabyan retired from the City in 1503 to concentrate on his historical research. He continued the writing of the Chronicle where the previous writer had stopped (around 1439).. The volume belonged to the martyrologist John Foxe and subsequently to John Stow, the 16th century London antiquary, who used it extensively for both his "Survey" and "Annals" and made corrections and additions to the volume.
