Artistic and Music Coordinator of the Romanian National Opera House of Iasi

Following his organ and organ composition degree studies at the Conservatory of Music in Milan, Marcello Mottadelli started his career in 1999 with a two year appointment as Chief Conductor of the Berner Symphoniker at the Stadttheater Bern, Switzerland. Being in charge of all operatic repertoire, he conducted Hänsel und Gretel, Così fan Tutte, , Il Trovatore, Die Zauberflöte, Der Vogelhändler and Marta. Whilst in Bern, he was invited to conduct a touring production of Nabucco, as well as with the orchestra and choir of Bolshoi Minsk.

In 2001, he made his USA debut conducting Turandot at the Colorado Opera Company. In the same year, he also made his debut in South Africa, conducting and Mahler's 2nd Symphony at the Opera of Cape Town. Invitations for international appearances followed steadily in 2002, among which to Germany, where he conducted productions of , Rigoletto and il Trovatore. During the same year, he also travelled to Belarus to continue his work with the choir and orchestra of Bolshoi Minsk and conducting their production of at the Bolshoi Theatre, Minsk, and Verdi's Messa da Requiem in Besana Brianza, Italy.

Between 2002 and 2008, among other productions, Mr. Mottadelli conducted Der Freischütz and Rigoletto at The National Danish Opera, symphonic concerts with Odense and Aalborg Symphony Orchestras, Bialystok Philharmonic Orchestra(Poland), Orchestra Teatro Coccia in Novara (Italy), the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra (Denmark) and the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra in Bratislava. During this period he made several appearances with Cairo Symphony Orchestra both in Cairo and in Jordan, at a Gala Concert starring Placido Domingo, Julia Migenes and Daniel Barenboim.

From 2008 until 2011 Marcello Mottadelli has held the position of General Music Director of the Cairo Symphony Orchestra. During this time he has also debuted in South Korea at the Seongnam Art Centre in Seoul, and conducted at the Royal Danish Opera, in Copenhagen. Further invitations to Denmark followed, where he conducted Donizetti's Elisir d'Amore and Lescaut at the Danish National Opera, in 2009 and 2010. Marcello Mottadelli was particularly honored to have a guest performance at the prestigious and globally acclaimed Nobel Prize Concert in Stockholm in 2011, where he conducted the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, featuring tenor Joseph Calleja, in the presence of the Nobel Prize laureates and the Swedish Royal family.

During the same and following year, other appearances included Aida at the Cairo Opera House, several symphonic concerts at Teatro Carlo Felice di Genova and Teatro Verdi di Trieste, La Traviata at the Royal Danish Opera in Copenhagen and at the Swedish summer opera festival “Opera pä Skäret”, which was greatly received by the international critics. In 2013, he conducted at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo, La Bohème in Seoul and several appearances with the Nürnberger Symphoniker, in Germany. He returned to Festival Opera pä Skäret to conduct Othello in 2014 and La Traviata in 2015. His recent works also include conducting Nabucco in Cremona, Brescia, Como and Pavia in 2014, Madama Butterfly in Trapani in October 2016, a symphonic concert in Nuremberg and recordings for Bayerische Rundfunk the same month, and Andrea Chenier in Sassari in December 2016. Between September 2016 and December 2017 Marcello Mottadelli has been the Artistic and Music Coordinator of the Bucharest National Opera House, where he premiered on the Romanian stage Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Lucia di Lammermoor (staged by Andrei Serban, with tenor Ramon Vargas) and Un Ballo in Maschera (staged by Grischa Asagaroff). He also coordinated the concerts within the Romanian National Operas Awards Gala in December 2016, with special guest and Nelly Miricioiu, and worked with the famous soprano Sumi Jo for La Traviata performance, in March 2017. At the end of the year he premiered Tosca. Along with the appreciation of his work at the Romanian biggest lyrical theatre, Marcello Mottadelli’s international career is also at the top. In the summer of 2017, his longtime collaboration with Opera pä Skäret has continued with 12 performances of Madama Buttefly.
