Before we pack everything Whammy-related away Weach year, we like to go over what worked and what didn’t and think about how we can improve things next time around. We know we made one good decision this year: holding the show at C2G Music Hall. We wanted people to leave the show feeling that they’d been to a great party, and judging from what we’ve seen and heard, that’s exactly what happened. C2G may be the perfect venue for this event, and our thanks goes out to the entire C2G family. ONLY AT As we have mentioned elsewhere, we had some worries going into a new MARCH 17 venue, which is why we chose to make this year’s event by invitation only. We’ve heard from plenty of music fans and readers who were none too pleased J K O’DONNELL’S OPEN 11 AM - 11 PM by this decision, and we want to assure them that they will indeed have the opportunity to attend next year’s show. With over a decade of touring under her belt, Frazier has returned to the national stage with her flatpicking and songwriting showcase, “When We Fall,” and her new affiliation with Compass Records. In 2013, Rebecca Frazier and Hit & Run have continued to delight audiences across the country with the “handspun yet motor-driven” music that earned Hit & Run their reputation as “one of the tightest groups performing.” They are the only band to win the top triumvirate of major bluegrass band contests at the Telluride, Rockygrass, and SPBGMA Festival Band Championships. Hit & Run formed in late 2001 with the mutual desire to play “authentic yet modern” bluegrass. They quickly launched themselves as a successful touring act out of Colorado, gracing stages of prestigious festivals and venues in 36 states and Canada and eventually migrating to Nashville in 2007 with two studio albums under their belts. Since 2002, Hit & Run has shared stages with the likes of Jimmy Martin, Hot Rize, Rhonda Vincent, Jerry Douglas, Sam Bush, Del McCoury, David Grisman, Ricky Skaggs, Creedence Clearwater Revisited, G. It is only the fourth signature amplifier that we have produced and I feel it is a great addition to this select range. I first met Randy when he came to the factory in January 1980. He had not long ago joined Ozzy Osbourne and they were working on their first album. He came here knowing exactly what he was looking for, he just needed to find the amplifier that was going to be capable of delivering the power, the tone, and the reliability that he wanted, but was also in keeping with the image that he was to be recognised by. Randy almost found everything he was searching for in a standard 1959 head, but the tone was not quite right. He spent some time with my Service Manager, explaining the slight difference he was looking for, and after a few trials we were able to fit a modification which made the subtle change to the standard tone of the 1959. Randy left the factory to proudly stand in front of his white Marshall stack for all of his hugely successful, but sadly too brief career with Ozzy Osbourne. In this time the legendary guitarist could be seen by thousands of fans, performing in front of his Marshall stack – a sight to behold and a triumphant assault on the ears. Our design team have spent many hours investigating the original Randy Rhoads amplifier, speaking to the Randy Rhoads family, talking to people who knew Randy and heard him play, and talking to the Service Manager who was at the factory when Randy came in and made the modification to the amplifier.
