~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Definition of Terms:
Population – refers to the number of individuals in a territory at a specified time. It covers both national and aliens, native and foreign-born persons, internees, refugees and any other group physically present within the borders of a country at a specified time. In assembling national demographic statistics for publication, the basic aim has been to obtain data for the physical present (or “de facto”) population rather than for the legally established resident (or “de jure”) inhabitants.
Population density – refers to the number of persons per unit of land area (usually in square kilometers). This measure is more meaningful if given as population per unit of arable land.
Population Growth Rate - indicates how fast a population increases or decreases as a result of the interplay of births, deaths, and migration during a given period of time. Where the population is closed, meaning no migration, the population growth rate is the same as the rate of natural increase, i.e., the difference between the number of births and the number of deaths during a specified period of time. The three methods for computing the rate of growth based on the assumption with respect to the change are: arithmetic change, geometric change and exponential change.
The 2020 Census of Population and housing was undertaken by the Philippine Statistics Authority in August 2020. It was undertaken pursuant to Republic Act No. 10625, also known as the Philippine Statistical Act of 2013 and executive Order 352- Designation of Statistical Activities That Will Generate Critical Data for Decision-Making of the Government and the Private Sector.
Information on the count of the population was collected with 12:01 a.m. of May 1, 2020 as the census reference time and date. The result was officially declared by President Rodrigo Duterte through Proclamation No. 1179 on July 6, 2021.
The Philippine Statistics Authority Guimaras Provincial Statistical Office, would like to express grateful appreciation to the member-agencies of the Provincial/Municipal Census Coordinating Board, the Local Chief Executives, the Barangay Officials, the men and women hired CPH personnel, the PSA Staff, all households, institutions and the general public, for the full support, and cooperation tendered that led to the successful conduct of the 2020 CPH.
