Urban impact and Mike Tomlin present the first annual ManUp Pittsburgh. This one-day Dads’ Conference is designed to encourage and build men to become more godly fathers as well as inspire and challenge men to address the critical need of the fatherless in our city.

Mission Statement We are encouraging men to be stronger, more godly dads and more effective role models in their homes and communities

Goals 1. Provide specific ways to express their roles as more godly dads in their families 2. Present tools for ongoing spiritual and emotional development 3. Offer parenting strategies to dads in unique or challenging circumstances; e.g. divorce, blended families 4. Help men who are living apart from their children to continue to father them 5. Encourage men to share what they’ve learned with others in their churches and communities

Strategic Plan 2013 “Scrimmage” This year’s conference will be open to 1,300 men and is being held in the suburbs of the city. The main goal is to help men become stronger, more godly fathers. We will also introduce them to the problems of Fatherlessness.

2014 “Big Game” Next year, we will take the conference into the urban setting and open it up to 3,000 – 8,000 men from the tri-state area. We will maintain the goal of helping men become stronger, more godly fathers but also focus more heavily on strategies to address fatherlessness in our city

Coach Mike Tomlin was named the 16th head coach in Pittsburgh Steelers history on Jan. 22, 2007. Tomlin became the youngest head coach in NFL history to both coach in and win a when he led the Steelers to a 27-23 victory over the Arizona Cardinals in Super Bowl XLIII. In Tomlin’s six years as head coach, he has guided the Steelers’ defense to the NFL’s top ranking in total defense four times, including most recently in 2012. Tomlin has compiled a 63-33 record in the regular season during his six-year head coaching career. His .656 winning percentage in his first six seasons is the second-best in team history and it is the fifth-highest winning percentage amongst active NFL coaches. Coach Tomlin and his wife Kiya have 3 children.

Mark Merrill is the founder and president of Family First, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening the family. Mark hosts the Family Minute with Mark Merrill, a nation- ally syndicated daily radio program. He has appeared on NBC’s Today Show; ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC network affiliates; and national radio programs. His writings have appeared in USA Today, the Washington Times, and Sports Illustrated. Mark is the author of a new book, All Pro Dad— Seven Essentials to Be a Hero to Your Kids. As an energetic advocate for the family, Mark speaks at numerous conferences and events. Tunch Ilkin, grew up in the Chicago area. He attended Highland Park High School in Highland Park, Illinois where he won All Conference and All County honors as a football player. In 1975, he was granted an athletic scholarship to Indiana State University. He was chosen by the Steelers in the sixth round of the 1980 NFL Draft. He played offensive tackle for the Steelers from 1980 to 1992, earning appearance honors in 1988 and 1989. He played for the in 1993 before retiring from football. After his retirement, he became part of the official Steelers broadcasting team and now works as an analyst on the Pittsburgh affiliate of Fox Sports Net. Tunch serves as the Director of Men’s Ministries at The Bible Chapel and lives in Pittsburgh.

Rev. Dr. Ed Glover and his wife Tammy were called to urban ministry on the North Side of Pittsburgh in 1986 and founded Urban Impact in 1995. Pastor Ed is a leader, an evangelist, and a motivational speaker in the areas of youth and urban ministry and truly has a heart for children. Ed got his undergraduate degree from Lambuth University in Tennessee, his Master's of Divinity from Alliance Theological Seminary, and an Honorary Doctor of Divinity degree from Toccoa Falls in Georgia. In 2011, he was recognized by the Christian and Missionary Alliance for 25 years in ministry and also received the prestigious Restoring Places Award at the Epoch Missions Gala in Atlanta, GA.
